Offline | Hit the nail on the head swamos I have already been personally been grilled by Katie how various aspects of my MINI work She's not slow at all I distinctly remember her saying "Mum is always complaining about the fuel economy of the X5, Dad says she should buy a MINI" Hence I'm not so surprised about the latest purchase I can only imagine how pleased she would have been to see that Dad had gotten a second MINI ![]() |

Offline | that's not good... It must have been a fair hit, as I don't think I did that much damage to the bumper on my S last week when I ran into the back of another car! I bent the bonnet though, so that's being replaced too. Total bill is $4k (insurance claim) so I hope yours costs a little less than that! Though I'm currently driving an Avis Commodore so I guess you're doing better than I am in terms of what you're driving in the interim ![]() |

Offline | Looking at the photos, and the imprint of the roo on the front bumper when we all pulled over, it was a dead on hit. At full highway speed. No-one had time to react when it jumped out so it would have been at full speed. ![]() I was surprised at the time how little damage it looked, but it is no surprise that there is a bit more damage than we had thought... ![]() - Global Moderator - MY BLOG - Global Procrastinator - ![]() ... Offline | Given the damage involved I would have guessed it to only a glancing blow Hitting even a small roo head on would have surely caused more damage than what Maddie sustained ... admittedly it sounds worse than it looked, but after seeing the result of what a 5kg garden gnome, some stupid 13 year old kid threw through the window of Adelaide bus/light rail vehicle, I am amazed at the lack of damage I think Robbo and Katie were lucky that the impact was not more serious than what actually happened However Robbo's timing for the new purchase is perfect, couldn't ask for a better way to run the new car in ![]() |

| MINI Traitor | Do you mean the aluminium extrusion immediately behind the bumper?? I think that is designed as part of the crash structure of the car and is only held on by slip bolts. Should be easy to replace, but I bet it's expensive. In the old days of car insurance, RACQ regarded a roo strike as an "act of god" and therefore did not bump you a rating point. Unfortunately, these days most companies do so it pays to check things out before making a claim. ![]() |
