Caliper painter in Brisbane

Hey All,

Anyone have any suggestions where I could take the mini (Closer to the Brisbane CBD the better) to have the calipers painted? Anyone had this done, and if so how much am I looking at?

Thanks!
Scott

Try Chapman and Chapman automotive at Deshon Street. Simon has been helping a few of the locals, but Andrew would be ok too.

Call me tight, but wouldn't it be cheaper to do it yourself?? You can buy the paint at any auto store, mask is up and paint it. I painted my plastic wheel arches black. It was easy and looks heaps better. best of all it cost me $12 for the black bumper paint, $1.5 for the Courier mail. and my time.

It would be a full time job just keeping the calipers clean so you could see the paint. MINI should have done it in the first place as Alfa has done.

02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW.
You don't know the meaning of practical until you've owned a Camry! (seriously it's not a bad car though )

Hoping to paint them as close to LY as possible. I called Chapman and Chapman, they seemed to find some sort of humour in me not wanting to do it myself The upside is they said they should be able to colour match to the body, which is very cool.

He said it would come in at around A$300 inc paint for all 4. I might have a look around the engine bay tonight to see any other bits I can paint

Fun.

... About the warranty issue, I asked the supervisor in my BMW Dealer, they told me that the brakes are still under warranty as long as you paint them without demonting the calipers, so I had them painted while they were fit on the car

interesting point regarding the warranty issues!

As with all warranty work and modifications, the onus is on them to proved that you caused the problem. For example, if the calipers came loose because you didn't tighten them up, then you'd have some strife. However, if the master cylinder leaked, what you had done would have no influence on it and they would have to cough up.

From what I've seen of MINI dealers, they very generous in their treatment of warranty issues. I really doubt it would be a problem.
