Not sure when they brought in the separate fuse for the power steering and radiator cooling fans but your MCS (Jan 03) may be pre this change. There have been a number of cases where people got things caught in the power steering fan resulting in an overload of the circuit/ fuse blowing and hence no more radiator cooling fan. If this is the case, you were lucky you caught it early as some of the other stories have resulted in major damage.

Don't know what caused it however the cooling fan fuse did blow. As you say lucky I got it in time. I have a habit of checking gauges and mirrors constantly which on this occasion saved the day.

Yep all OK . . . thanks to Anthony Alafaci at MGS who got onto it first thing Monday . . .

If anybody else has good experiences with their dealers, post it to MINI2. We often bag MINI dealers over problems with our cars, some times well deserved, however, when they do good things, we shouldn't hesitate to tell the MINI community.

Drove past 2mins ago JCWMCS still there, looking good as always

Saw Anthony this morning as I dropped off Max for a software upgrade plus a list of interior creaking to be looked at. Asked about your MINI this morning, concerned since there wasnt any update from you, great to see its back on the road.

I m glad all is well with the car mate !

I had a good experiance with MINI ASSIST as well a couple of years ago with Mini no 1 ( IB/W Cooper ). A lot of the v/ early cars had problems with the gear box linkages coming adrift.

My car got stranded in the Sutherland shire . In fact it was about 400m from Sylvania Mini Garage, however they were prompt & happy to tow the car back to Altos at Artarmon.

What do all these software upgrades do ?

My MINI is a feb 04 build so what version would i be running at the moment ?

I heard somewhere that they can install the coopers JCW software, does anyone know if this is possible & what sorta money we are speaking of for normal upgrades & JCW software upgrades ?

Thanks guys
Daniel

Software upgrades are usually issued to address problems.

As far as Im aware, there are no pressing problems with the Cooper. Only the Cooper S.

It is rumoured that v38 is the next in the long line of software evolution - maybe curing the yo-yo...

I was wondering how long it would be for somebody to bite . . . I will be working from AMG for about a week or so helping Chris out while Brian is away.

Sorry Ross,

All those DS's are definately confusing . . . can't keep up . V38 isn't due until end of June. Just thought I'd plant the seed and see if MGS knew it was coming.

Not far off the mark there gazah . . .

They have had a run on sway bars for both Coopers and MCS's. They topped up their order yesterday to cope. If anybody wants one they should call Chris at AMG asap.

I must admit to reading all these posts about software upgrades with some mirth
I have a constant battle with Col Crawford Motors over ever hearing of a V36 upgrade and of admitting that there is a YO Yo or hesitation problem. As stated before on this forum, pre JCW my MINI ran beautifully, then I spend 9.6K and get a hesitation problem which no-one at CCM claims to be able to detect. Just delivered MINI2V back to them today for another look see, said they could keep it for a week if necessary so they can feel the problem. Fingers crossed, but running out of patience, if this does not work looks like I'm off to MGS, where hopefully i will be treated with a little respect.

Also interested in other views on squeaks in the interior, has anyone got a squeak in the drivers seat, only noticeable when alighting from the MINI

Vic

That's pretty common I think, I've had it and have seen it in other S's also. When the handbrake is on sometimes the rear brakes will make a noise when you get in too - I've seen a few MINIs do that...
