Track Day at Oran Park ( Short Circuit ) Sat 19th June

I have received an Invitation to take part in the AAMs Drive Day at Oran Park
on Saturday 19th June 2004

AAMs Drive Day will be held at Oran Park on 19th June.

The day will be run as a series of 20-30 minute on-track sessions, with drivers grouped according to their experience, and the type of car they are driving. There will only be 8 to 10 cars on the track at a time. Regardless of skill level, each driver will have an instructor with them for the initial sessions. They will be running some different exercises in the afternoon, which everyone will enjoy.

They will be able to provide each driver with quality “in-car“ tuition (if desired) from one of AAMs instructors during the day, to help polish up your techniques and enhance your driving skills.

The cost of a Drive Day is $295.00 incl gst per driver and will include a light lunch. Catering will be organised for the number of participants only – if you have people coming out to watch who would like lunch there will be a small fee.

Because of the popularity of such days, places will only be allocated to the people who send their registration form back accompanied by payment Before Friday 11th June. (earlier if possible)

So if you are interested I will email you a registration form.
Send the form and a cheque in favour of Australian Academy of MotorSport to secure your place on the day.

People attending :

1. Trelo ( me)
2. Alan Earnshaw
3. Cityclinic ( Brad )
4. Warped ( maybe ) - chickened out
5. Greendevil ( Carl )

Oh , Depending on the numbers we get , we will get some kind of Discount. So before you send a payment let me know so I can give you the right amount to pay. If you are paying with CASH ( like me ) , let me know also so you can pay on the day .

So very little response . Come on people, this is a great opportunity to get an Instructor teach you 1 on 1 on how to drive on the track for those people who have/havn't been on a racetrack before. Last time I got an instructor with AAM , I lapped the circuit a full 2 seconds quicker later .

At these track days , there are no heroes. So you can go at your own pace

Haha, I'm hoping to get my MINI on Friday June 18. Although I know I won't, but just in case I do, how many kms would I need to do on Friday before taking the car to the track the next day!

Sounds good Trelo, but I'll be out.

Hi Chris,

I would love to be there However, unfortunately, I have a committment with my kids on that day. They have hardly seen me lately due to mini / track committments. Also, I am allready doing the BMW club motorkhana on the 20th, and the BDD on the 23rd.

Wow. Both great looking wheels (glad to see your sticking with gold! ), so youre keeping the R1's or the BBS'ers? Tough choice

They did make a big song and dance about that on Thursday. An apology was even issued. Looks like they are beginning to realise how much we love our cars (it should have been obvious, now we have made it obvious!) . The problem now is that it will be another 12 months before they get up and running because they have to book the racetracks that far ahead.

Appreciate that Poki, however had that happened in my department I would have employed a Temp to ring every person and appologise and explain the situation to them pesonally, and I have done that in the past if we have launched a new product that has been over subscribed.
It still ******es me off that we are taken for granted .
I would really have liked to have had some formal training by BMW before taking my MINI on the track, it looks like this will not happen in the forseeable future as even now they will not respond to my e-mails and short list me. Therefor I will have to learn by the seat of my pants with some BRAVE instructor sitting next to me with cars flying all around the track.
Not ideal but I want to track the car and I need instruction.

God I feel better now I got that off my chest THANKS for listening

Agree with you totally Alan. I didn't really see the point in apologising to us. We were the ones who got in after all. They were not proactive about it at all. Siimple little things like changing their voicemail message to say "we are swamped, bear with us" could have made all the difference in the world. At least we would have had a clue as to what was going on, instead of thinking our messages were going into a black hole.

I'll be keeping the R1's . . . at $900 a set fitted and balanced for running around on Sydney's pot holed roads, I rhink they are ideal.

The BBS forged alloys are a standard fittment for MINI and won't fit JCWMCS in it's current configuration i.e. won't accommodate the Alta big brakes. They have just arrived at AMG for those who are interested . . . weigh about a quarter of the weight of OEM MINI wheels and come in three colour combinations.

A quarter of the weight??

I'm interested What sort of price are we talking here? And colours? Black? Or that gunmetal grey?
