Australia 2005 Aussie MINI2 Calendar... OUT NOW - SEE STICKY ABOVE! :)

it looks like we have some general structure to start accepting submissions for the calendar for next year, so here goes the ramble!
  • submissions are welcome from ALL AUSSIE MINI2ers
  • the final design format is still a little flexible, but we're likely looking at a finished size of (H) 410mm x (W) 290mm with a single landscape shot of just under A4 size at the top with similarly-sized calendar details below, spiral wire bound at the top edge
  • MINI2er darryl sheather has offered to take care of printing, with an estimated cost of $20-30... i would forsee a single print-run once we have a final design & a gauge of interest in numbers
submissions...
  • will be accepted between now & mid-september, but keep an eye on this thread for the very latest details
  • the submitted images should be a compressed version [or scan of a 35mm shot] of upto say 200kb, but be sure you can back it up with a high-res digital version [or original negative for 35mm]...
please note in your correspondence the highest quality image you can supply!
  • please don't send through a bucket-load of pics guys & gals, think about it & submit ONLY YOUR VERY BEST!
i would suggest a maximum of say 10-15 for really prolific photographers, & pick ONLY THE BEST single shot of a series of similiar photos!
  • although i love looking through people's galleries, please don't send a generic link to your online gallery... send a link to THE VERY BEST shot[s], in your opinion!
  • have a look through the first 5-6 pages of posts in this thread for some ideas on photo composure, & remember that we are after GREAT [not good] shots... we can only accept 12!
  • please don't be put off submitting based on this, we want shots from everyone, but we want them to be the VERY BEST each MINI2er has to offer!
  • POST TO THIS THREAD
  • EMAIL [see above / darryl@sheatherbros.com ]
  • MAIL [PM me for an address to send CDs, Prints etc to]
  • darryl & myself [+/- others] will shortlist the shots & then we'll poll them on MINI2 to get the final 12.

  • we will also be looking into creating a series of desktop calendar images in various sizes for download

  • for thoroughness, please note that this calendar will be 'not for profit' & while the photographer will be credited for his/her shot they will not receive any $$$... they will however obviously maintain full copyright over the image!

i think that if we adhere to these simply guidelines we should end up with a reasonable-sized collection of GREAT SHOTS to work from!

so, keep the calendar in mind when taking photos & remember to look at keeping higher-quality versions of photos you think make the grade!

feel free to PM me with any queries or suggestions etc etc...

Good idea. Am definately interested.

One request I have though is that it be mildly useful. Lots of room to write MINI events and birthdays on and maybe some useful information (eg: school holidays, moons and pension days - stuff that might affect traffic etc)

it took a little digging, but here's the final selection of TT pics they used for their calendar!

http://tinyurl.com/37qrk

it was printed by fotki.com using a pre-set template, & so included generic US holidays... maybe we'll need to sort out a more custom aussie solution!

Some nice photos there. Especially liked August and November. Very seasonal.

I'll double check, but I think the site I use for my online photo gallery lets you print calendars, I know you can do mugs, t-shirts, mousepads etc.

Just as long as you don't get the owners to model their latest swimwear for the summer months.

Ah, I was actually in the process of doing something like this for myself next year. Would be way more interested for a professional finish.

Theres a third of the calendar already

Perhaps there should be more than one piccie per month?

Maybe a watermark under the calendar itself?

I'm sure with the resources of Aussie MINI2ers we could get this photographed/designed/printed without too much drama.

Maybe I could pose nude. I would love to hear the sheilas screaming [b]CRIKEY!!!![/i] when they see the photo

That would give your calendar some publicity. I'm looking for something to make people forget about that other nasty incident (which was totally safe)

can our resident photo-gurus give some advice on recommended resolutions / file sizes to allow high-quality photo reproduction to about A4 size [maybe even allowing for some cropping of photos also!]
