It was a shocker!! And I put up with it for a year. I was worried that if they pulled the dash apart to fix it they would add more rattles than they fixed. I'm pleased to say things are now better, and I can move on to hearing and trying to find all the other rattles that I can now hear because the rattle has been removed

Hey Guys

Don't know whether I am still allowed to post as the Cooper has gone but a few comments. Sydney Mini Garage (BMW Sydney) always had a loan car to provide for any warranty work.

Had the gear cable fail the day before it was to be replaced in the recall. On the back of a truck in 20 minutes and tossed the keys of a Cooper for the 3 hours it took to repair.

I had the sunroof rattle and that required a new sunroof cassette to fix the problem which took three days. Played in another Cooper.

A door rubber replaced which took two days, They ordered the wrong side so got to drive a 325 manual.

The only problem is that it takes two to three weeks to book in for a normal service work, but all in all loved the mini experience.

As far as out of warranty work goes, I had the rear suspension collapse 2 years out of the warranty on a Lotus Elise and the work was done no questions asked about $6,500.00 worth.

Got a new 318i Sport as the new toy. First impressions a higher quality finish inside, A bit more grunt and a smoother, with a real BMW engine, than the Cooper. Sport suspension is quieter but not as instantly responsive. Best thing is the in-built Bluetooth phone kit, just start the car and your phone is online don't bother to take it out of your pocket or bag. Overall quieter, smoother and a little more grown up. I must be getting old

I also have always had exceptional service from MGS, just hope it continues when I take my MINI in for the Dash rattle, which sounds as bad as Swamos's. I'll keep you posted.

What about the warranty if you have the JCW kit.

Heres the scenario;

Bought my MCS October 02

Added JCW Kit November 03.

Obviously my warranty should expire in October 04 but what about the JCW warranty.What will that cover and for how long????????

Err ... very good question Rick I have no idea Sounds like a good dealer question BEFORE you need to actually use the warranty

Probably worth stumping up another $600 to extend your base warranty for a year come October though
