| MINI Traitor | I'm sorry, but I can't see much point in this thread given that the only way to lock a MINI is with the keys in your hand. Can anyone give me some tips on how to lock my keys in my MINI?? The only way I can think of is to leave the boot open. lock the doors, put your keys in the boot and then close it. Any other ideas?? ![]() |

Offline | Well that sceanrio you suggest has probably happened a thousand times before. Let's hope you never lock your keys in your MINI hey. ![]() Or you could do something really cleaver like leave your keys in you post box at the post office only to have soem toe rag pick them up and not return them, despite having your dealers name and phone number on the key ring for instances just like this. ![]() |

| MINI Traitor | But Liam, you would have to deliberately lock the car with the boot open, and then somehow put your keys in there, and slam the boot. I cannot ever imagine me locking the car with the boot open?? On top of that, I'd only have a few seconds before the motion sensor for the alarm activated, which would really remind me of my stupidity. I suspect that lack of demand was why MINI discontinued the service ![]() |

Offline | Haha, Steve, I know what you're saying, but I've heard of some stories that would leave me to believe people could do something like this. Even know of one guy who locked his keys in his car, while it was running. It sat idling for 45 minutes before they could get it open ... and NO it wasn't me! ![]() I take your point though. ![]() |

| MINI Traitor | I bet the NRMA man had a good laugh with his mates over a beer on Friday about that one. I've done it in the past, but only in the bad old days of cars that you pressed the button and slammed the door (usually while you lifted the handle - like that would help). I guess that means I haven't locked my keys in my car since at least 1992 when I got my pulsar with NISS ![]() |

Offline | Haha, I had a Pulsar SSS with NISS too. I think I did manage to lock my keys in the Pulsar though.[step 1] Unlock hatch to get the shopping [step 2] Exit car and lock doors [step 3] Open hatch, throw keys on boot floor to pick up shopping [step 4] Close hatch and get to house door [step 5] You got the keys honey ![]() |

| MINI Traitor | Good work BTW, I only had the 2.0Q, but it was my first ever new car so I thought it was pretty cool. Unlike the mini, it won Wheels car of the year with the Honda NSX so it was pretty highly rated. Shame the jap ones went down hill I'll stop sending this thread off topic now ![]() |

Offline | Just one more ... I reckon I bought the last Aussie made SSS ever! It was a year old, but had only been registered for a month and had 1034km on it when I collected it in 1993 ... and 185000kms when I traded it for the GTI in 2001. |

Offline | Bretts reply . . . "keys locked in boot, key lost and spares in car, etc............it never ceases to amaze me how many people actually keep their spare keys in their car. Went to one in Bondi just last week after NRMA had been and scatched the hell out of the MINI door frame. Girl had had a fight with boyfriend and spare key was in her bag behind front seat...............the other key . . . somewhere in the pacific." ![]() |
