I think that's a really good idea . There is no one offering the service in Brisbane, although a couple of tinting companies will have a go at it.

I looked at it when I got my car, and the kit cost was about $400, then I had to mail it up here, and then have it fitted, or fit it myself. It seemed too expensive It's too late now anyway

I'll be very interested in this once the pricing comes out. I drive along the freeway on the way to work each morning, and I think they're about to start roadworks along there as well, so one of these'll be perfect for me. I notice on the website that a fellow mini2'er is doing it down here as well.

It's definately a good idea - the 3 week old paint on my bonnet is already damaged (from stones) in more than a few spots

Hi,

My 2C worth regarding the OziCozi protection,

I have seen Boo's car (Sworks). The stone chip protection system is virtually invisible, and is very effective I wish I had it installed before Tasminia, as the front of Sparky is littered with stone chips and tar

For people interested, I would suggest contacting Boo. Once you see the product, you will be impressed

Robbo

This is what the kit looks like on Boo's car. The first 300mm of bonnet, the bonnet scoop, the headlights, the grille slats x4, the whole bumper have been covered with the film. Very difficult to detect.

3. A very good respray (not a touchup) of bonnet, bumper, grille slats will cost you more than putting an OZICOZI on.
4. Even if you get a great spray job done, what are you going to do to stop stone chips on the way home, or a week after? Let's face it, you would probably not get a respray until you are about to sell it. Things can get pretty bad over 3 to 5 years of road damage.
5. With the film on, you don't have to worry about your car deteriorating and after 5 years it should look in showroom condition when you go to sell.

nice reply eltel really great info here.
will certainly give Boo a call when i want the clear bra...
the clear bra will certainly be in consideration when i get a new car however i think i probably won't bother with cars that are owned before.

05 PW/B chilli. finally here.

Even though I don't drive my car everyday, I'm keen on more info on this clear film. The only hesitation I have is that my car is black and you will able able to see it very easy. Also, I have stripes down to the front grill.........

Eltel,

Is it you who is selling the 3M product in Victoria??

I would be interested to get it priced for the Mini as well as for an AC Cobra replica... I have seen the product on a cobra, but never on a mini...

Maybe we could organise a group buy!?! Hehe!!

Todd

Todd, we do indeed supply and install see through car bras for all types of cars, trucks, buses, jetskis, etc. We install in Victoria and NSW, but will gladly go to QLD or any of the other states if we get a good number willing to have their cars done all at once.

We will be doing some banner advertising here on MINI2 later this week and we'll put together a really good deal for MINI2ers as a limited time offer. I'll also quote you on any other car that you want done.

We'll start a thread when the advertising appears.

great to hear terry!

it's also nice to see local suppliers supporting the clubs & MINI2 in general... maybe some of the other local companies profiting from club support & free forum advertising should consider following suit!

Did Boo have his gear installed on his car on the driver training day at Eastern Creek?

If so, it is pretty undetectable all right.

Hi,

Yes, it was on Boo's car then You only really can notice it when you go looking for it. Boo has also covered his spotlights, foglights and wing mirrors, which look great too

I am definitely going to get mine done

Cheers

Robbo

Yes Todd, that's me. I've organised a number of events up until last November when we had the club launch. Since then I've resisted putting an event together until I know the status of MINIClubs Insurance.

I believe that it's time that we start a committee down here to move the 'club' forward, either as a MINIClubs Chapter or as a separate club.

I'll start a separate thread to invite people to attend in the next week.

Thanks for your enthusiasm and efforts in making us have some fun in our MINIs - don't get disheartened if things go a little astray sometimes.

Regards, eltel

Did Boo repaint the front of his car before he put the OziCozi on? How does it look on cars that are already stone chipped?

No We put the film directly on Boo's car even though it had 40,000kms of chips, cuts, scratches and some really sticky goo, and insect bits and pieces.

Point is that the car won't get any better, but it sure won't get any worse either. Of course Boo got his at a very good rate , so it was worth it. But, I think he's going to get his front repainted eventually, then redo the OZICOZI.
