MINI CLUBS Meetings; informal meets, venues etc

We have had a few requests to hold informal meetings on a regular basis to talk about Club activities, Club Business and generally just catch up and chat over coffee.

Some of our MINI Dealers have offered to host meetings and some of our members have suggested various venues.

We would like input from all MINI2ers who would like to catch up on occasions and recommendations for venues and themes for the nights/lunch times.

We should spread the venues around so that we can accommodate owners from all areas:-
NSW Owners: Sydney, Central Coast and Wollongong. Central Coast may like to hold their formal meetings at Worthingtons and catch up with Sydney Owners at a less formal meet. Sydney Owners would have their more formal meets at a different Dealership each time and informal at different venues.
VIC Owners: Melbourne and surounding suburbs.

Meetings about every 4 to 6 weeks have been recommended. Examples for more formal Club Meetings may include a Dealership for a night during the week and a less formal venue like Woolwhich Pier Hotel for a lunchtime meeting on a Saturday. Obviously parking the precious MINI is to be considered.

From your suggestions we will put together a calender of MINI meets.

A calender might look like this;

The second Thursday of every second month at a MINI Dealership - More formal Club Meeting.
The first Saturday of every month for breakfast or lunch at an alternate venue - More social Club meeting.

Add a venue by replying to this thread.
Code:
VENUES: Sydney CBD: The Lord Nelson Lower Nothern Beaches: Boo's Coffee Shop Northern Beachs: The Arms, Newport Northern Suburbs: Pie in The Sky (PITS) Lower North Shore: The Oaks Neutral Bay (Big Bear Parking Station) Eastern Suburbs: Centennial Parklands Cafe/Restaurant Watsons Bay Hotel Inner West: Wollwhich Pier Hotel Southern Suburbs: The Briars Bowral Central Coast Canberra Melbourne Apollo Bay Hotel

Hi Todd,

Sounds good . . 8.00 - 8.30 is good for me. Coffee, a run up the OPH and home by 10.30 to keep in the good books with my girls.

Recommendation for a Breakfast Venue

Hi Brad,

I think it is a neat idea to catch-up for breakfast or lunch on a social basis.

If I can throw in a suggestion for a breakfast venue - I think Centennial Parklands (inside Centennial Park) would be ideal as the food is great (and relatively affordable) and parking is in abundance. As an area of high thoroughfare, you would get some fairly good publicity/exposure for the Mini and the club (including sponsored vehicles with real R90s).

Cheers,
Eddie

Currently the Coast Mini club only has a meeting every three months (which I think is too far apart). It's on tonight at Worthingtons, unfortunately I probably cannot make it (due to Uni) , either can Kerrie, so we won't know what's going on.

Kerrie & I will be keen to come down to Syndey on a Saturday, just have to give us notice.

Cheers

Karen

Sounds good to me... Are you suggesting though, that there'd be two meetings a month? The Tuesday (formal) one and the Saturday (informal) one?

I think that might be a bit too often - perhaps having a formal meeting one month and an informal one the next might be better?

Just my 2 cents... Using dealers for more formal meetings works well (a la BMW Drivers Club NSW) and the informal venues look good.

Not really . . just laying down some of the feedback we are getting re meetings. It is really up to our owners and hopefully this thread will give us a good indication of what is acceptable. I think a formal club meet every two months at one of the Dealers (different each time) is enough for Club Business. Social meets can be haphazard or planned, whichever suits the occasion.

I think the Apollo bay hotel is good for a meeting in Victoria. There's a road which leads to it that i've heard is not a bad drive
(that'd be the Great Ocean Rd for anyone who's got no idea what I'm talking about!)

Sounds good I'll add it to the list. Which I'll now start on post #1 of this thread.

It would be good to find venues that we can park a few cars with ease. MINI Dealerships would work or low traffic areas.

Coop's.

Suggested Informal Venues Oaks Neutral Bay -hower parking could be a problem.

The Arms-Newport-easy parking great Beer Garden, good food either in resturant or from food bar.Added to this a good twisty road from Church Point to Terry Hills.

Another Social Venue - Southside

Hi Brad,

As another suggestion, how about the Como Hotel (southern suburbs)? Its been fully renovated and right across the park with water views and ample parking in close proximity - this would particularly handy for Stu and I
