A chance for Perth MINI owners to enjoy some good roads, some good company and hopefully some good Spring weather.
The drive will start at Auto Classic, leaving there at about 9:00 a.m.
First port of call will be the Bakers Hill Pie Shop to sample some of their fine pies.
Then on to Toodyay via Clackline ( those who know the road will understand the grins)
Second port of call is Toodyay, this could be a short or a long stop there is a market that day and plenty of cafes in Toodyay.
Then to Gingin via Bindi Bindi Toodyay Road - Bindoon Dewars Pool Road - Mooliabeenie Road
Final port of call Gingin.
All MINI owners are welcome just put your name down here.
Well despite the lack of responses on MINI2 we had 9 MINIs turn out this morning.
A slight mix up with directions (all my fault as I forgot to take the itinerary with me ) meant that we lost one car at an early stage and I arrived at the pie shop alone and had finished my steak & kidney pie and hot chocolate before anyone else arrived. But arrive they did thanks to Wendy & Murray tracking them down in Bullsbrook.
We then had a quick blast along the Clackline Toodyay Road before heading off to Northam and on to York for lunch. The pub owner was from the Basil Fawlty Hopsitality School. This quote from the menu might give you some idea of his approach.
"If you think you can run this hotel better or more efficiently than I can plese (sic) address your check (sic) for $200,000 for a 20 year lease or $1,200,000 million for the freehold to the owner Kevin Lawless and I wish you the best of luck"
He was ably assisted by a Fanny Craddock look-alike waitress who would make Basil Falwty look like the epitome of politeness and charm.
From York to the top of Mt Brown for a chance to take some pics and then homeward bound.
Beautiful weather, some nice roads and a great bunch of MINI owners, roll on the next one.
Wow, seems like today was a real Aussie MINI GTG day with runs in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney ... hmm, me thinks we should try and organise a simultaneous MINI GTG around the country.
