Eastern Creek Home Movie I think this clip (9.36mins) captures the essence of the "no speed limit" open days at Eastern Creek. It is difficult to desribe, but it is like Parramatta Road without cops and traffic signals. Cars featured include: WRX XR6 Turbo Alfa 147 Lotus 7 Clubman Boxster S and a painfully slow MR2 Enjoy! http://202.52.48.90/mini/index.htm (if you are on dialup - forget it) GreenDevil BMW E36 M3R Alpine White - Engine : 6 cylinder; DOHC 24 valve Capacity : 2990cc Power : 243KW @ 7000 rpm Torque : 323NM @ 3900rpm Produced : Jan - May 1995 How many :15 ONLY

that was cool!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() i was at eastern creek on monday doing BMW advanced driver training! ripping around in 325i's had so much fun doing the track! how fast were you getting down the straight in the green devil? we got a bit over 200 in the M3 hotlap those cars are insane! we were sliding out half the time around the bends! so much fun. think i got to about 160 down the straight, the pace car wasn't letting us go any quicker. benno

Yeah approx. 180 which kinda awkard as it sits near the redline of 4th and its hardly worth going to 5th gear as you are on the cusp of slowing down with only a few metres of straight left before turn 1.. Sometimes I change up, sometimes I don't.. I don't really look at my speedo much as it is the good ol' Sydney traffic ya gotta watch BMW E36 M3R Alpine White - Engine : 6 cylinder; DOHC 24 valve Capacity : 2990cc Power : 243KW @ 7000 rpm Torque : 323NM @ 3900rpm Produced : Jan - May 1995 How many :15 ONLY

and i suppose you leave DSC on? i would be afraid to take mine to the track because i dont have it.. and i know that when i was driving those 325s that the DSC would have been in overtime! benno

Hi Carl, Great video There are some good moments I like you comments as you make the kills I also like the bits where cars go off into the dirt and leave a puff of dust in their wake The guy in the XR6Turbo is a seriously bad driver Blows the mini into the weeds on the straight, but instantly loses it all in the next corner Also, I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again, I love the sound of your scorpion exhaust, even if it does get you into trouble with the police Where did you mount the camera? Passenger seat headrest? Cheers Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY!

Thanks for your positive comments Robbo. I have held the video back for awhile as it is pure amateur roadwarrior stuff. But at this stage that is exactly what I am! I watch the video back these days and the early apexing makes me cringe a bit. To be honest though, I had a pile of fun and it is less expensive than a speeding fine! Camera mounting was real easy. Simply wedge it between the passenger seat and its headrest. No need for eleborate mounting at all. The XR6T murdered me down the straight, however, he gave it all back before turn 3. Real easy. The Boxster S was a surprise too. From a rolling start the Mini is pretty much on par.. The WRX was running 20psi of boost and I could make some ground around the back of Eastern Creek but had to give it all back down the straight. It was obvious to me that many of the cars battled to keep in front of me around the back and were really hangin' to hit the straight.. the only place where they could have a breather. Some drivers just simply got worn out after 8-10 laps and just gave up their lead. The Mini gained some respect from the various tribes of Parramatta Road on the day. For that reason alone it was well worth the drive BMW E36 M3R Alpine White - Engine : 6 cylinder; DOHC 24 valve Capacity : 2990cc Power : 243KW @ 7000 rpm Torque : 323NM @ 3900rpm Produced : Jan - May 1995 How many :15 ONLY

Looks and sounds like you were having a ball. How much does it cost to go on such days, and what are the implications for insurance, training/licences required &tc, and most importantly are similar things run in SA? M
| ||||
Mallala race track should have practice days available. Costs are usually around $100 for practice days and more for the "structured" days. Licensing really depends on the track but as a guide I would say CAMS L2S would be a good bet. 2002 BRG MCS with more mods than can remember The thieves choice in race cars ![]() 2005 BEP MCS stock standard and staying that way
