Offline | Little sucka got sent off today on the back of a tow truck. Decided to send it back to Peak, was the only one who would do a pulley. Asked him to totally dislodge the gauges, as im going to get a set of new, more reliable ones (I thought Blitz was??). Had a heart flutter thinking my splitter was going to broken going on the towey, but all's good, anyways I make the suckers and have half a dozen sitting i my garage at the Mo, so bah. Just cant wait to sample that Alta 19% pulley. Im stacking up a ![]() ![]() ![]() load of parts for sale if anyones interested:-Apexi RSM + Pilo Tach adaptor(new) -Alta Catch Can (red)(new) -Blitz (Mechanica) I.D. gauges (oil temp + press {repaired}) -Carbon Fiber Splitters x 6(new) -Whole set of Labis Blue/Black leather interior (front + back) -Redline leather gear and handbrake gaitors (in lapis blue leather/red stitching) -OEM boost CD stereo -OEM aux input (new) any interest out there? | Boy who made the wolf cry | The Skyline in F&F2 in supposed to have a purge kit for Nitrous Oxide...(NOS for the simple folk) not a Co2 blow off... the idea is that you purge the nitrous before a run to remove air and other unwanted's before your run. IF you are interested in drag racing, you will see a number of Nitrous Oxide users will purge their car at the line creating an interesting specticle for spectators.. but it is also affective in stopping nitrous oxide backfires like the Croydon R32 GTR had last year, which quite literally blew the bonnet off on the start line... Once again, the F&F didnt really give S#!t about the truth, only wanted to create interesting viewing for the people who dont know... and sell some of the stuff that the companies paid an absolute mint to have placed in the movies. To purge the Nitrous system like this is doing nothing more than wasting your Nitrous Oxide.. which at $10 a pound isnt really that cheap... but if it gets you excited do as you please. | Twincharge??? | I think they didn't release it for the sake of releasing excess pressure buildup in the NOS thing but more like it's a purpose built release to cool the fridge (errr intercooler) prior to the run. There was this crazy idiot in Adelaide a couple of years back, sprayed $100 worth of NOS at his front mount during a dyno comp. Not sure of the effect but the gain would be minimal. Looks cool, probably worked but the cost outweight the benefit. Ah well... enzo: what sorta splitter are they? sounds like what I might need to collect dead dogs and cats around the place and...how on earth can you hook up a RSM to a Mini? They're for Jap cars... |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | I was assuming you were discussing when the Skyline was arriving at the "start" of the run and he has two purges from the front of the car? This is not directly on the cooler - its to atmosphere - and if you notice there is a close up of the Nitrous Express (NX) logo on the front of the car.. you are right however, the benefit of nitrous on a cooler is fairly minimal - but could have an affect in the white heat of racing... not in some riceboy street race, where if he was trying to hit the racing line rather than trying to drift he would find it useless anyway... I could be wrong about the whole thing - I havent seen the movie since I walked out from the cinemas in disgust on the opening night... I do have some small hands on experience installing NOS into a Porsche 911 turbo ![]() and my old mans Cobra ![]() - Old family friends of ours are actually an official Victorian Nitrous Oxide Systems supplier.I have also been in a number of cars with NOS fitted ranging from 400kw HQ monaros to 297kw 911 Porsches... the best a 600kw drag car on a "street tune" when I was about 6 years old!! haha!! I look forward to seeing how a fellow Mini2ers NOS installation goes in the VERY near future ![]() Todd PROJECT POLARIS - Die Wiedergeburt eines kultautos |

Offline | Hahhahhahahahhaha. About the blow-offs, theres a Co2 system which can hook up to the intercooler sprayer. This can also have purge kits which in effect cost much less than blowing Nos in a public area. Like I said though, rethought the idea was the booze ran off! |

Offline | I make these splitters myself, will have a website soon as I will have complete inner doors, downtubes and dash tops ready in a couple of days (made in total Carbon Fibre). Pm me if interested, will do good price. The RSM can be fitted but only with the Pilo tach adaptor which I have. I.ve seen them in many BM's and even 1 993 turbo. btw, back to mechanics, has anyone else got a 19% pulley without software? Im still waiting for an OBD3 cable, should be alright for a week or so should'nt it?? |

| Twincharge??? | Not sure if this gonna help but from my experience with tweaking boosted cars, I've noticed the ECU will dump more fuel to avoid leaning out so..you won't be getting the most out of your car and the 19% pulley. Don't think the Mini is an exception to this rule unless it's smart enough to give the right amount of extra fuel? It's slightly rich in the first place let alone more boost. |

Offline | put it this way stock cooper S - A/F Ratio goes continuously down (as the revs rise) down to about 10.2:1 at the rev limiter Cooper S with 15% pulley sees about 10.4:1 just before the rev limiter before heading back up to about 11.4 at the limiter... which is where it ends up going down to (from about 13 at low revs) with the AmD software... You can drive these cars with reduction pulleys and no ECU change with no problems going off what I've seen... Software upgrades like the AmD oneclick only give a few bhp at the wheels by tidying up the a/f ratio This MTH software looks interesting though - do some before and after dyno tests when you do it ![]() Last edited by IML337 : Sep 16th, 2004 at 12:22 PM. |

Offline | I'll try and dyno saturday before I upload the software. Cable arrived today after only 6 days as well as picking up my car from Peak. Fixed the cable with a braided hose with rubber inner so wont split like the copper hose. Also had 19% pulley installed, sounds like a Banshee but pickup is MUCH better down low. 6th feels like 5th Been restricted to 6500 redline though! |
