Is there a need to raise the redline though? Most of the time stock internals should be alright to put up with the extra boost but the only 2 things that kills it (besides a bad batch of fuel) is extra rpm and bad tuning. Hey that's just me, maybe extra rpm tickle your fancy

I think Nick has been only limited until he gets the softwear on saturday... that is my interpretation of the situation - am I correct Nick?

I assume it will lean out if he goes over the 6500 "limit"? So with the changes softwear he will be able to go to the new readline...

Youre right Todd, it will go lean to the point of damaging the supercharger.
Well....according to Nick Peek (+others), the charger will suffer much damage after 6500 with the pulley, but then MTH will pump up the redline?. Im going to have a bit more in depth analysis at Peak later once software installed, even though he's sceptical. Apparently A/f ratio will be changed with the new software as well as ignition timing and so on. Im going to play it safe until I have a definate answer and keep redline at 6500 but to tell you the truth, with a 19% pulley, you're rarely going to go near that unless on a track like eastern creek. Should rock with 98 octane fuel though.
You could go hard and add a AF ratio adjuster but then you're playing with the dark arts and fear of blowing the charger.
I think it may be time to put a shift light in.

No thanks, prefer a working engine than a bit of extra acceleration.
You spoke about bad fuel, has anyone experienced bad 'Premium unleaded' from a international station (i.e. BP, AMPOL, SHELL)? or does it occur at lesser known, regional stations?
I dont drive the Mini that much so usually refuel at the same place.

I've found Shell have a slight deviation with their fuel across servo, BP is worse but Mobil is a bit more stable but hey, that's just according to my dyno not based on some sort of scientific method of testing. Fuel economy shows this, however. Possibly due to how long it took them to get new fuel from the distributor is the major cause of this but..it could be a billion other things affecting it.

I've only tested with 15% pulley, not 19%, but from the dyno testing I've done, what peak have told you totally contradicts what I've seen with my own eyes... and I explained this just a few posts ago.

The thing you'd be worried about with the 19% pulley is overspinning the supercharger, not the a/f ratio... it won't lean out - I'd put money on it.

Like I said before, I've been told certain things but am holding middle ground till I find out more. You could be right but I would rather be 100% sure. Maybe I misheard him as he like to talk, but I think thats what he said.

understandable - better to be a little cautious than blow it up, that's for sure! And ALL mechanics like to talk hahahah

I'm REALLY curious to see how much power gain you get from the MTH ECU upgrade though...

Just remembered something from my Honda research

http://www.theoldone.com/articles/da...wer/index.html

It's an interesting read and the supercharger in question is made by Eaton and this could be the same one as what the Mini use (the blowned up one is a M45CCW, I know the Mini is a M45 too..)

Endyn/www.theoldone.com can modify/upgrade the M45 to boost up quicker and runs at a higher level of boost so it could be possible for you to buy a used M45 out of those that upgraded to JCW, send the blower to the states and see the improvement.
