Offline | Reliable Mechanics in Sydney?? Hello, well could anyone PLEASE direct me to any mechanics in Sydney which have been used and found reliable and knowledgable. Having been fed up with the 'North Parramatta' Mini mechanic after seeing a mechanical oil gauge installed by them has broken away and spilled oil all over my garage floor as well as bits in engine bay tonight. Add to that an M7 splitter which would of been installed better with blu-tac than they way they did it, came flying off because it was held on with a few tapping screws. Ive heard of someone talk about mechanics called ALS?? Is there anyone else who can work it as I am in need of someone who can tap an oil cannister properly as well as someone who can install an Alta pulley and a gruppe-m airbox. Thanks in Advance Nick btw please do not refer to "P--- performance". ![]() |

Offline | Hi, I have had plenty of work done at Peak, and have been more than happy with the results. Any problems have been fixed without question (there have been a few ), but overall the backup has been sensational. In particular, they specifically give amazing support to people who track / race their cars For instance, when I first had my car modded, they sent a mechanic with a backup vehicle down to Winton raceway at no cost. It is an 8 hour drive each way My exhaust system failed , but fortunately they were able to patch it up, as they had a mechanic there Peak have sent out a crew to many of the track days I have attended, at no cost. This has included suspension tuning, changing springs, ride height, painting brake temps etc etc . My recommendations for Peak have been based on my experience, which is heavily biased to the track. If you were not happy with Peak, it is unlikely that you will get much more satisfaction from ALS. Both of these workshops are race/track orientated, ie they service normal cars, do upgraded street cars etc, but their passion is the track, and thats is where their passion and priority lies ![]() I dont have the phone number for ALS, but it is Andrew Schmidt in Drummoyne. Do a search on the site, and I'm sure you'll find it. Cheers Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |

Offline | Thanks Robbo, but Peak has buggered up too many things, and no, there was no offer to fix any of it! I am just looking for someone who cant screw up a gauge install. Maybe im just unlucky, but after showing what Peak have done to a friend who is highly skilled in Historic and Lotus Cars, he was shocked to see the aftermath of their work. I can post pics if you like to show their faults. I'll give ALS a call. I just hope everthing they've done to other cars dont experience the same problems as I have. If I kept on driving the car, it would of most likely gone up in Flames. That being the case, Peak would be up ![]() ![]() ![]() creek without a paddle.Nick |

| Twincharge??? | Is Peak really that bad...? I've sent my C240 there before and did noticed the car went a bit better than before the service. With the Mini, they were asking the same money as Trivett so naturally I'll be sending the Mini there instead, at least I'll get a BMW stamp in the service book. |

Offline | Cheers Matey, I'll give them a call tomorrow morning. Re-checked the problem this arvo, once I started the engine, their was a clear spill flowing straight out of gauge line. Going to have to buy a bag of sawdust/sand to get rid of the trail of oil going down my back-lane as well as garage floor. (Maybe I'll try and burn it up and take some pics) Do you think they'll do pulleys and airboxes as well? Desperate for a Mechanic whos close, and does'nt ********! Maybe thats why my HSE Rangey blew up and cost be a bucket of cash (they did my unichip [C+V]) Cheers asinn, you put Nos in a Lexus!!!....Cool Nick ![]() |

| Twincharge??? | C&V is a bit of a lucky pick, I've heard numerous stories about them and these are the two extremes: PM Darko and ask what happened to his brother's WRX I remembered it was a long and exciting story, something goes along the line - parts charged but not fitted, tools left in the car and the problem it had originally turns into something more nasty. On the other hand, a mate of mine had his WRX tuned there and the only mods are Unichip, K&N drop-in panel and a cat-back exhaust. His car have blown away cars with 40-50kw at the wheels more than he did even when it was a rolling start...I suppose there's no drivers' skills involved? I think with C&V it's probably bad workmanship but pretty damn good tuning skills. |

Offline | They definately have GREAT tuning skills (worlds fastest WRX, but how many times has it blown up???) but their mechanic skills are obviously below par! Or they just dont care unless you're car is there 4 days a week!!! |

Offline | I will definately give them a call tomorrow, only problem is I cant drive the car without spilling tonnes of oil!. Looks like a tow truck is needed, roadside dont cover selected repairers to tow too either. I hate this, bc it should'nt happen. I can deal with problems that I have caused but not professional screw-ups. Plus its got oil everywhere so I will obviously spend several hours cleaning up. If this was a daily driver, I would be on the phone to my cousins by now, lucky im a calm person ![]() |

Offline | I know a mechanic out west (wetherill park) who has done a few pulley swaps and bits and pieces who is quite good - it's called RPM Motorsport, and the guy's name is Steve sounds like it's a hike from where you live though |
