| Your work email address. This is the one that after the @ symbol appears to be a little back to front? It was supposed to be a 6.5MB email with the word attachment. I just checked the sent folder and it actually says that it was 8.5MB. Either it was too big, it was spammed out because of the maps in the word doc, or I got your password wrong. I'll see what I can do. |

I had a real eye opener... they opened the Epicentre and all the 'people' came down from their trees in all these weird clothes and were playing instruments etc.... | Byron Accommodation My apologies to all MINI pilots that have been waiting patiently on accommodation particulars for the Byron Bay Run. Whether you be Pirates, Vikings or other un-named MINI owners, I am sorry for the delay. Over the past couple of months, of all the places I have visited or phoned, no one seems interested in large group bookings. Even the visitor information centre has not been able to help out with booking for a large group, and at this point in time, it not due to lack of rooms, although vacancies will start to fill up before too long. Whether it is because Byron is a big Schoolies destination or they have been burnt by other groups with regard to places being trashed or people just not turning up, there seems to be a pact that no place wants to accept bookings for more than 4 rooms. Despite this, the run is still definitely on for the weekend of 12-13 February 2005, with 30 Queenslanders and quite a few Pirates and Vikings confirmed, and if rumour has it correct, even some of our more distant MINI pilots. The following link is the best I have found for Byron accommodation. www.byronbayaccom.net On the left there are links that include "Beachside and Ocean View" and "Town Centre". The town centre is only a few hundred metres from the beach, and most of the accommodation venues on this site have maps, so you can locate places on the beach side of town and the town end of the beach. I must say that the places I have visited have looked exactly as they appear on this site. I have the Visitor's Centre working on a dinner venue for Saturday 12 February, with a response due back soon. I am hoping this delay has not dampened the spirits of those who were wishing to attend. I do know that despite the "friendly" rivalry that occurs between the States, with the number of us that have now met while on holidays or business trips to each others cities, there is now a strong bond amongst the MINI owners across Australia. I hope that this run will be the first of many "National" events, that will allow us to share the passion we have for our MINIs. Once again, a warm welcome is extended to anyone who wants join in and for those that have the time to stay longer, a chance to be made welcome on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane and to enjoy some of our favourite roads. Cheers Ken |

| Well the Byron Bay run is looking is looking like a blast. The Saturday night dinner is next on the agenda. For all of you southerners that are coordinating with Alan, can you make sure he knows when you have confirmed your accommodation booking. Learning from experience, dinner will be a ticket only affair. I will need to know numbers that have paid accommodation deposits by January 20. Once I have those numbers, we can make a booking for dinner. There are a couple of options depending on confirmed numbers. Once final numbers are in, I will post here with a location and pricing. Tickets will then be available up until February 2, after that it will be up to the dinner venue whether they can fit anyone else in. Hope to see you all at what I hope will become an annual event - not permanently at Byron, but shared around this great land of ours. Ken |
