Plea for shipping help

Hi everyone,

Recently my Uncle passed away in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Presently, my dad and my cousin (his son) are there sorting out the loose ends, and organising the return of about a container load of furniture and goods to Australian Soil.

To set the scene a little, business is very much conducted by who you know, and if you don't know anyone, then you're likely to get ripped off or taken for all you're worth. So, I beseech anyone here - I know we have a diverse range of occupations and maybe even relevant hobbies - who may have a contact in shipping in KL to please contact me at callun{at}wcg.com.au

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and for those who ARE able to help us out, time is of the essence.

Callun - give AFFT a call (02) 9666 9222 and see if the could recommend anyone over in Malaysia or in fact whether or not they could arrange the actual freight.

Another company I could think of is APC Logistics - http://www.apclogistics.com.au/share...sbane&office=4 there's all the numbers for their Brisbane office (assuming you're from Brisvegas).

One that I know people have dealt with but they're only customs brokers but should know something - (02) 9316 5744.

As a reference, a 20ft from Hong Kong to Sydney cost $880-1200USD (depending on season, it's peak right now) so I wouldn't expect it will cost much more than that ex-KL or anywhere in Malaysia. However, I got a funny feeling it might need to transit Singapore to make its way here. Port charges are pretty expensive so you'll be looking at another $1k USD to cover all the port charges both here and Malaysia plus transport the actual container in from your family home to the port and from the port in Bris could be another biggie.
