| Boy who made the wolf cry | Haha Giles! I would love to go up, but money does not pemit (see other new thread) I hear a rumour there are a few other Mini's coming down from Sydney to be on the shenanigans also... (with a run through Brown Mountain planned) I really wanted to go this year, as a mate of mine is trying to win the forced induction class in the HP heroes - well worth a look! Next year I will make the journey... Todd PROJECT POLARIS - Die Wiedergeburt eines kultautos |

![]() MCSJCW | A few friends of Stu & mine are going down this year to the Nats'. One of them got in the top 60 last year, hopefully again this year. Would be nice to go, but last year some idiots were throwing bottles (even though there not allowed) at cars. ![]() ![]() - Blacky - 2003 MCS JCW Trouble Maker |

Offline | Any MINI2ers who will be in Canberra tomorrow evening are welcome to join a few of us on top of Black Mountain. We're meeting there at 7pm with no real plans after that at this stage. We'll just go with the flow I imagine. ![]() ![]() Cheers Liam |

Offline | Ahh Summernats...... From the back balcony of my place, I get to enjoy the smell of burning rubber and high octane fuel, the glorious sounds engines having the bejesus revved out of them and, if I'm really lucky, tyres exploding or engines blowing up! We got a letter in the mail last week from some do-gooder group that included all of the numbers (and after hours contact details) to the EPA and other ACT government bodies with encouragement to contact them if there was any unnecessary noise from the event . Man, some people need to get a life. They get all upset about something that goes for only 3 days every year! I'll see how I go re meeting tomorrow evening (you'll be getting sick of the sight of me soon )Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | Hi, I drove down from Sydney to Wakefield Park early this morning, leaving aorund 6am. On the freeway I was a bit perplexed by all the "fully sik" cars I kept seeing driving on the road or on the back of flat beds Just before Goulburn there were a bunch of coppers on the freeway pulling modded cars over for random checks. I got pulled over too It then dawned on me, summer nats The coppers looked at my car with track tyres in the back, and asked where I was going. I told them I was going to Wakefield and they waved me on It looked like some other cars were getting a few defect notices and/or speeding tickets Cheers Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | Hahaha the saddest thing is that the summenats is also into its what 17th year... it is alos probably the single biggest een in the town besides the election - which happens far less frequent.. plus all the coppers get a bucket load of fines each. Its hardly an event that the government can afford to stand in the way of... I think Summernnats put Canberra on the map - if it wasnt for them... what the place be? A town with grown men and women in suits who go to a building under a big flag and yell at each other like a 10 year old does? Summernats gives the hoons an outlet for some pent up anger and there are some mega dollar cars there too... #end of rant ![]() PROJECT POLARIS - Die Wiedergeburt eines kultautos Last edited by Red&blackS : Jan 7th, 2005 at 02:10 AM. |

Offline | Your forgetting Floraide which, if my memory serves me correctly, is a bigger earner for Canberra than Summernats. Canberra, famous for flowers, V8's and politicians...... along with having the highest standard of educational achievement, highest average income and lowest crime rate of all capital cities in Australia Despite what a lot of people think, it really is a great city to live in. It has big city amenity (all those years being controlled by the Commonwealth - why do you think so many Canberran's were against self government - cause it meant that we had to start paying for things ourselves) with a small city feel (easy to get around and out of - short drive and your out of the city and back to nature. Sometimes I really pity people who live in cities like Sydney and Melbourne - great places to visit but wouldn't want to live there. End of response rant ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | I know, was just stirring back (We’re expert in Canberra at knowing when people from interstate are “just stirring” )Yes and Floriade is a flower show held in spring (funny that). Goes for about 3 weeks I think. If your into flowers, it's supposedly pretty good. Yeah, I'm going to have to pike tonight too - mum's making a roast and well, there are certain things in life that you just can't miss. When is the best time to go? My brother (who is the type of guy you’re likely to see walking around the nats in a blue singlet and thongs) reckons probably Sunday arvo as that is when they have the burnout finals?? Offline | Yeah, like John Howard does by refusing to stay at the Lodge and instead staying at Kirribilli House in Sydney. Oh hang on, actually the less time he spends here the better. ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | See you soon guys. In the off chance that you are in Canberra and are reading this now and you would like to come along, please do come along and enjoy the drive up to the summit of Black Mountain. I can't see us leaving there until some time after 8pm. ![]() Cheers Liam |
