Australian MINI2ers, thinking of trading your MCS for a new Golf GTI?
I just got asked THIS on another forum. Seeing as working out the length of a piece of string was a bit harder than I thought, perhaps you guys can answer the original question for me?
im not planning on doing it... if i were buying a new car now though... id be very very tempted to go that way though...
147kw is very tempting... you could chip that car (oettinger, MTM, whatever) and get killer power!
i think the bumpers are a bit average, would have to get a kit, but the inside looks good..
ive read articles that say its very fun to drive also.. but im not swaping to the dark side
IMHO, I think that the biggest problem with the new Golf, and this applies equally to the GTI, is they lack any kind of visual character. Sure they are well proportioned, have everything in the right place, with all the typical Germanic design control and precision but they just end up being bland and invisible. They are the Toyota Camry of German car design. Trying hard not to offend anyone may result in good sales but by the same token, it's not what you'd call inspiring.
Don't get me wrong, they are obviously a fantastic car and the reviews to date seem to back this up but for me it's not just about how fast it accelerates and goes around corners (although this is obviously a very large part of the decision).
