Offline | Ok, it's a bit quiet in here so how about this. Picked up a new camera on Thursday - all the great shots that are posted on M2 got me inspired to get back into photography. I got a Panasonic FZ30 which is a really great camera - especially the optical image stabiliser (you can quite happily take pictures at a shutter speed of 1/8 of a second ) and the sheer number of features it has (probably nothing special to anyone that has a DSLR). The zoom is absolutely stella too (35-420mm in 35mm equiv terms) Anyway, what does everyone think? (Thanks to Liam for the inspiration of locations wonder how they are enjoying Rome? )![]() ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | I was thinking of getting the same camera. Bout time I got a new one, and I've had a compact Panasonic for a few years. Very happy with the quality of the images it produces even if it's only 2MP . Compared to a lot of other compacts that claim 3 or 4MP it's so much clearer.Be interested to know how you find it. Shots look good BTW. 0051 gets my vote. ![]() |

Offline | Thanks guys and yep Kerrie, that's the Carillon Pete, yeah the only thing is the noise at high ISO settings is a little above average (but apparently not too bad for this type of ultra zoom 8 megapixel camera). I have found that the noise is non existent when the ISO is set at 80 or 100 (which you can manually set and which stays set even when you turn it off). The optical image stabiliser allows you take photos at much lower shutter speeds and therefore allows you to use lower ISO settings anyway. All the photos above were shot at ISO 80 From what I have read and experienced, the optics are excellent ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |
