Offline | Quote "Nah, 3 o'clock will be fine. Everything in Caberra is withing 15 minutes!" It's true actually... Well if you believe the advert hype for each new land development project that gets shown on TV. "Come and experience 'Valley Heights'. Beautiful vistas (of unremarkable grazing fields where the only exciting thing may be a moving sheep) and forest fresh air (read - gales blowing in from Alpine regions). Only 15 minutes from the center of the city (woden/tuggeranong/civic - take your pick)." Curious that they never mention what speeds they were travelling in order to achieve the perfect 15 minutes. Hmmm.... ![]() |

| -Mr T- | I thought I'd go to the Computer fair at Kingston. How long would it take for me to get to Carillon? ...and what is 'Carillon'. Also is there somewhere I could leave my bike that would be safe...Also where the hell is the restaurant.... am I going to be sucked into the black hole of Canberra to never be seen again? I only know Woden and Belconnen....and Fyshwick of course .....only cos of the bike shops there! Tux |

Offline | Good advice Giles Ok, might as well post here before the event so that no one can say that they didn't know. For those that have not driven Apollo road before, there are a couple of things to be careful of. The first and most important thing is the "dip". On the way up, you'll know what I'm talking about, it’s a very sharp dip in the road that is a lot of fun. Be careful coming back though as once you've crested the other side of the dip, you need to turn not long after but if your going too fast you'll get air (or close to it) and won't have any breaks. Second thing, be aware that there is a stock grid, so when you see the gates of the park, slow down if you don't want to stuff up your wheel alignment. The best thing to do, and this applies to speed bumps too, is to have the wheels going dead straight and don't break while your going over. The third thing is less important. We'll cross two concrete bridges on the way up just after we turn onto Apollo road. On the way back, try and line up the first bridge, ie the first one you cross when your coming back down, so that you don't scrape the front. I hit the bridge pretty hard last time but after having a close look at the front, there was absolutely no damage. Roll on tomorrow afternoon ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | Hi all... yes its me, long lost ben I have been watching this thread for a bit, but have not posted as it would've upset me too much. My default lover, (now Jude is OS) is 100km OVERDUE for service. Rolfe can't fit her in till 16th. Booked that a week and a half ago!! Mini is my only transport so I've had to limp her around town for ages. Still seems to run fine, but can't bring myself to let loose on a drive day. BTW, any Rolfe Classic rough quotes ($) for 1st service?? Anything special I should be asking for/not for? Enjoy the run people, I shall make a point to arrange one myself when I'm allowed over 3000rpm. Cheers ![]() |
