Offline | Funny you should mention that. I'm moving into a town house in Watson this weekend and it exactly meets those criteria. Suburb = Watson very easy 10 to 15 minute drive to Russel - go the back way via Ainslie and Limestone Ave. Price = $330 per week bedrooms = 3 reasonable sized (main with en suite) 1 secure garage. Watson is a nice suburb with really good local shops/cafes, it's close to town but not as expensive or busy as Kingston/Manuka and has a good selection of units and townhouses I used to live in Griffith and preferred living on that side of town but now that I've lived in Watson for four and a half years, I actually think this side of town is pretty good.Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | My parents were looking for an investment property recently that they eventually wanted to retire to and Mum flatly refused to look at anything on this side (north) of the lake cause she reckoned it was the "wrong" side ![]() Jan 06 MCS Checkmate |

Offline | This something that most of the planet won't really comprehend or believe! I have lived here in Canberra for twenty four years now, and have had 10 addresses, each in a different suburb. I have never considered crossing the lake. There are many like Andrew's mum who would never consider moving north of the lake. I was a taxi driver for a few years, so I got to see the majority of the streets in Canberra at one time or another. But I still couldn't move south of Lake Barely Tolerable. Tiaan, Not the Landmark in Barton. Yuk. ![]() |

| Still kickin' along | Ha...I think I may have told some of you this story before, but when I was in NY in late 03 I met a guy in the UN building that was wearing a rally of canberra T-shirt...I asked him about it and it turned out he was one of the organisers. I asked where he was from and he said one of the northside suburbs, and he returned the question....when I told him I was from fadden, he asked where that was...I told him it was in the southside to which he responded with a dissapointed look on his face and an "oh...." hahahhaha..... It's universal... I grew up in the southside, and I swear that everytime I cross the lake, it becomes overcast.... You won't catch me living too far north of the city.... ![]() It's not this one is it Andrew?: http://allhomes.com.au/c/ah?a=spr&p=53674 |
