Hi Dave,
I find myself in Grenfell St replying to your post.
I believe the Kumhos are as good, if not better, than the Michelin Pilot Precedas that they replaced. AndrewH has a set and we were discussing these tyres the other day at breakfast. It seems that they take a few minutes to warm to operating temperature, then they're good.

I have ordered a replacement unit for the modified one. These Kumhos were only fitted about 5 or 6 weeks ago, so there should be no problem with the wear difference.

It was just mind blowing that Lima could help out on such short notice. This is what being in a cool community is all about. Thanks again Liam , and thanks to Qantas for getting me to Adelaide only an hour after my original plan.

Cheers all.

No worries Kyle, as I said, your timing with your phone call was spot on. Worked out well in the end.

Grenfell St - well, welcome to drizzly little Adelaide! Won't get the chance to meet - I'm off to Falls Creek tomorrow (it's a hard life).

Hey there.
From the QANTAS club, I can see the drizzle is clearing. Off to Melbourne now. Catch up next time.

Finally home. MJ has been to visit our favourite Kumho supplier. Here is what they found:

Needless to say, the rim is off to the doctor on Monday for a final diagnosis, and hopefully metal magic to live again.

Wow, that's pretty scary!

I might need to get my wheel back soon if that's okay though as I have a track day on Monday week. You still have your S-spokes don't you, do they have rubber???

What made it real scary is that the tyre guy was so impressed he took the tyre and rim to show his mates next door

Thank you for your wheel and it will be 'round' (get it ) at your place tomorrow.

Doubly screwed Snapper, the tyres are only a few weeks old

We have the new tyre and will await the result of surgery on Monday to see what happens next.
Back to the S-spoke in the meantime.

Hi,

Had a similar thing happen a couple of years ago, although it was extremely weird.

I was competing with AJ, Stu and Steve Green at Mt Buller. At the end of the first day, there were dramas in the competition, as the leading team, the Whites in their lambo gallardo has lost a bolt out of the transmission or some such story. They had lost 4WD and were down to 2WD. We saw them in the service park frantically working through the night trying to fix the problem.

The next morning we got up, and when we went to my X5 to drive down to the service park we had a completely flat tyre. We changed the tyre, and drove down. I then got the michelin tyre guys to have a look, and they pulled out a massive bolt, similar thing to the one in your picture.

The strange thing is that the bolt was exactly the same dimensions as the bolt missing from the lambo I went and offered it to the lambo guys, but they had allready fabricated a replacement.

So, the strange outcome seems to be that our support vehicle got a flat tyre by running over a bolt dropped by the leading lambo in the rally

Cheers

Robbo

Your story wins

We were only on the way to the airport trying to avoid a cyclist at an intersection. Won't do that again (joke)

I put a small hole in the tyre on my landrover the other day. Those lazy tyre people said it was too hard to repair

aregh...nasty!

M&K - so I'm assuming it was too close to the sidewall to plug? I've been known to plug run-flats (naughty, apparently)....

Good to hear SuperLima came to your rescue...

Nice one

I'm in the market for a new DSLR for my trip os in November but am thinking about going with the Nikon D80 as I'm not bound to any existing lenses

As Mini drivers don't you know it's all about size?

That's why I got an Olympus mu750. Smallest 5x zoom on the market. (and yes, I'm fully aware it's just a point-and-click camera, but if you get it in the right mode it takes some nice photos, just not good in low light).
