I am now the proud owner of a brand spanking new battery after the old one embarrassed me yesterday by refusing to start and only co-operating after I had called MINI assist. Something about not holding a charge.

Finally got to use my clubMINI discount.

As this is a Ausse Aftermarket mod forum, i thought i'd put forward my mods for others who may be considering going the same similar route with a R56.
Looks
-Just fitted my Whalen gear knob.
-Viper Strped full front to rear
-Replaced the Chrome-look side vents with Carbon Fibre units (one now missing )
-Stubby Aerial
-Dark Window Tint
-Blacked out belt line
-Blacked out upper and lower front grill
-Blacked out Headlight Surrounds
-Chequered Flag Sun Roof
-Black Side Mirrors (White were standard)
-JCW Plates
-JCW Mats
-JCW badging
-Blacked our rear Mini Emblem
Engine Tuning
-JCW Tuning Kit with all the bits
-Alta CAI
-Alta Turbo Inlet pipe
-Alta IC Muffler Bypass piping
-Alta Intercooler replacement piping
-Alta Intercooler
-GTT Stealth Dump Pipe Mod (done here just easier to describe it this way)
Handling
-Apart from the greta handling you get with a mini i have the sports suspension, the LSD and ditched the Runflats
-KW Coilovers
-Willwood 4 pot brakes with drilled and slotted rotors
-Stainless braid all round on the brakes plus Hight temp fluid
TYRES
-Track and Mini runs i use the (Blacked Out) Crown wheels 17" with Kumho Semi road slicks
-General use, i use 18" 5 spokers with 35mm Kumho ECSTA Road tyres.

Next mods will be the Ireland Engineering adjustable Camber Plates, the Forge Pressure relief blow off adaptor (BOV for want of a better known name) and a strut brace. Now that i have dithed the JCW airbox i should be able to fit a decent one in.

I intend building a legal rear ground effect spoiler. I have had a look at the Challenge Cup cars up close and i believe i can build a legal version of this that will fit under and attach to the standard rear trim. This should help glue the backside down a little better on track days and perhaps some additional performance on "spirited" Club Runs.

I have now added
-Blackened side indicators
- Ireland Engineering Adjustable Camber Plates
- The Forge BOV (which actually works pretty well without massive noise)
-Custom (yes I made them) rear diffusers
- LED centre Fog Light (no room for the side ones with the diffusers)

Next mods will be
- A custom modified Air Box, I can post a photo if you like? I have the box downstairs and its tacked together and looks quite good. It similar to the m7 airbox but mine has the elbow built in. I intend getting this ceramic coated, apparently this assists with keeping items cooler in a tight engine compartment.
- A custom, triple filtered, catch can
- An Aluminium replacement pipe for the Turbo inlet from the Airbox.
- A new JCW Mini to load all my parts onto!!!

I think i'll do the last two at the same time because i will get the catch-can input to the turbo inlet put n the opposite side and higher to reduce piping under the bonnet and i have room on the other side there now with the OEM CAI piping removed.

If you are travelling in the same direction as your wheels are pointing- You aren't trying hard enough.

Hey steve,

Just be careful with the ceramic coat, when I got my headers done I was going to get my IC done and the guy told me not to. It will hold the heat in. That is why you put it on the headers to stop the heat escaping and it makes it escape more quickly. However, I think their is another product that will help to keep it cool, I think. But it only works when their is Air passing through it. At least that is what the guy that did my headers told me anyway. Just thought I would give you a heads up.

The wheels/exhaust look great.

Question about the milltek on post '05 models (like yours)... how is the exhaust crackle and pop? Is it very loud? And how is the exhaust note.

Where abouts did you get the milltek from?

long live the supercharger

The Milltek cat-back sounds fantastic, not too loud, not too quite, but just right .

At idle no louder than stock, just a deeper note;
At highway speeds no drone at all;
Off the gas plenty of crakles and pops - yeah, I like them too!;
And when you give it a gut full the system comes to life and gives the CAI a little bit of competition.

This cat-back is definitely easy to live with!

Price - I was lucky enough to get in on the Milltek group buy put together by Lohen. The exhaust landed in Australia for about $1100.00, thats about $800.00 cheaper then buying local .

Thanks Scolburn, I wasn't going to get it done, but the place I am getting the box built suggested it. I guess there will be a fair bit of airflow through the. The best thing to do would be to test the temps before and after depending on the cost of it. I am building two units, stage 2 wil have a front scoop that lines up with the bonnet intake and whilst I am testing the second unit, i know of a willing participant prepared to test the first unit on his R56.

any suggestions would be appreciated...

Better late than never, I've seen both rubber mats for sale at Morristown MINI. I believe they can arrange for shipping to Aus.

The JCW Mats are really heavy s well, and you can get hem from your Mini dealer. No too bad in price, which is about the only time i've ever said that about BMW parts.

Been wanting to get some parts from their shop for a while, but each time they ask they say they don't ship to Aus!!!

Let me know if you ever successfully organise a shipping!

Cheers

1100? That's excellent. I've got the aero bumper, and I really wanted the miltek but the tips don't come out far enough. I've got a hitech with custom tips which looks great but is a touch too loud. May have to try and get a JCW in somehow!

Don't bother with ordering anything from the US for inside the mini. It just won't work as they are left and we are right side drive. I can't even order any dash pieces which sucks!! The only thing for the interior is about the Downtubes!!

I've had the same experience, plenty of emails with some pretty vague responses. I might try calling them

Here are 2 shots of the car from the Stokell Race day last week. They sort of show 'em. They are designed to be legal and fit to a standard R56's rear.

Much better angle...I like!

But I wonder if your creating some messy air turbulance with exiting air running into the bottom of the valance?
