| fr34king n00b! | Interstate purchase? G'day folks Spotted another potential mini, but located interstate ( ie in QLD and im in NSW ). It is a BMW dealership and they're happy to transport the car IF i buy it. The dealer ( seemed pretty friendly ) - was happy to answer any questions i have about the car, and will be forwarding to me via email close up ( high res ) pics of the car. Also mentioned that, given they are BMW dealer, they can extend the factory warranty ( called "Mini-Next) for another 12 months ( which, from my understanding means that should i have any probs with the car, i can take it to a mini dealer around NSW to get fixed given that its under warranty). So i guess the reason for this post is: 1) Has anyone actually bought a car interstate here in Aus? If so, what are u experiences/advice? 2) Might sound dumb but - should i trust buying a mini from a BMW dealer interstate? (Nb to Admin - sorry wasnt too sure if this should go here or in 'aussie banter' thread - pls move if necessary; ta) Thanks folks. -MF |

Offline | If it is a great deal and you are strongly considering buying it, then maybe get one of the guys off here, that lives in the city that it is in, to go around to the dealership and have a close look for you....just a suggestion. |

Offline | As Todd said, I bought my MINI from Motorline in Brisbane. At the time, they delivered my MINI to Melbourne via another dealer. They send me photos of the car when it arrived, and emailed me every step of the way. It was an very easy transaction. Very pleasent buying experience. On your other questions: - I bought Triple Three (extended warranty and service) from them - no probs in Melbourne - I took the risk and trusted the dealer, at the time it was Cassandra at Motorline (not sure if she is still there) Just one last thing, I believe dealers are being pressured to stay in their areas. Good Luck Chris |

Offline | Yep, bought my 2001 Golf GTI from a Sydney dealer and sold back to a Syndey driver. It's a doddle once you have all the info at hand, just ask the RTA what the go is. Also see if the dealer is willing to do you any favours on the sale price invoice, ie, to save a bit of stamp duty when you transfer the rego. There is a cut off so that, for instance you couldn't sell you $30K car to a mate and say he only paid $10K. |

| fr34king n00b! | WOW I seriously cant get over the amount of support a person gets from this site :``) ( only at M2 ofcourse )Thanks for all the feed back & advice XMINX - sounds like u had a good experience @ motorline - appears they are trust worthy given ur experience with them, my telephone discussion with the guy, and the fact they are BMW. Sunnybaker - i might PM u about popping in and taking some pics of the car ( if its not too much trouble ofcourse ). Ill liaise with motorline first and clear a few things b4 i take up any of your time. Thanks again everyone! -MF |

Offline | On Saturdays you can be lucky and get very very cheap airfares... either standby or online. Might cost you very little to ge see the car yourself... Once a fellow Mini2'er has ok'd it for you... Prolly crunch a better deal while you're there and at least get your flight money back and leave with a certain level of peace of mind. |

| Twincharge??? | What usually happens... * Get yourself a blue slip - RTA has becoming quite anal with numbers on your car and stuff, that's $50 for you. * Greenslip (if you're over 25, get your full comprehensive cover, even just a cover note, to save a bit on greenslip) * Armed yourself with a bit of cash (3% for every $10k is the stamp duty amount), forementioned papers and of course, the papers Motorline gives you. But hey, if it's what Chris/XMINIX was saying (delivered by a dealer down here) then it might be all cosy and warm that you don't need to do anything and they might even give you a bottle to pop ![]() Good luck with it! |
