Offline | WANTED Cooper S. Western Australia Hi allGuys, just starting to look for a Cooper S, but in Perth, WA there are very few second hand available in the market. Ideally, I want to purchase after 30 June 2005, but will consider anything early. I have viewed the usual sites like Carsales, Carpoint, Autotrader, Motorpoint and majority are on the eastern coast, which is fine, as stamp duty is by far cheaper. There is a 2002 in Melbourne with JCW installed which is of interest, but not necessary, my only really requirements are for 17in Wheels, prefer stripes, ideally would like British Green or Dark Blue, but I want low kms and mint condition only. Happy to purchase from anywhere in Australia for right mini. Let me know or send any photos of any Mini that you know is available. Nike61 |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | G'day - I see your search continues... I feel that you are not going to find a car second hand that is up to your standards. Maybe you have a look at saving for a little longer or what ever and buying brand new. From memory you said you had time up your sleeve, why not order what you want and then you can be the first person to maintain the car. The JCW in Victoria that you are refering to is a brilliantly maintained car (amongst the best kept from my travels) - the body work is immaculate... dont let abit of dust on a CD player turn you off - In the end it can wipe off. It will be hard to find a true enthusiast that has maintained their car and is selling it. It is that simple. Most of the cars on carpoint or carsales have not been maintained to the standard of most of the owners on mini2... in saying that there are a only a hnadful that go to great efforts to maintain their cars in immaculate condition. Most prefer to drive it rather than hide it in the garage. Im sure that you will be more than welcomed into the WA community - they are a great bunch over there. Go new - maintain it to your high standards, you wont regret it. Todd PROJECT POLARIS - Die Wiedergeburt eines kultautos |

Offline | Also, based on anecdotal evidence, I'd probably rule out any cars built before 2004??? How is stamp duty cheaper if you buy interstate. If you register the car in WA, surely you'll be paying stamp duty in WA??? Good luck searching anyway, however, put me down as another recommedning the NEW purchase option. ![]() Cheers Liam |

| Twincharge??? | I am selling mine very well maintained example except, just about every '02 built cars' faults are pretty apparent...lol. Having said that, I've eliminated nearly all of them except the annoying rattles. I blame the suspension being a bit harsh to cause it ha ha ha. (I am 100% serious about selling it, see my post in the for sale section) |

Offline | Thanks guys, and thansk again Todd. Yep its hard, the one in Geelong is great, but its hard to justify the cost difference to buy new, but then again, at least then I can choose finance or cash, as finance companies are funny about private purchases. Regarding stamp duty, interesting subject, but if you ask WA SD office they of course want you to pay their duty, but I have checked, the only issue if if you buy in WA a car registered elsewhere ie Victoria, then you have to get temp plates and pay WA SD. However, if the car is in Victoria etc, you pay SD as Victoria, then you have 3 months to transfer and only then pay the rego. For info, WA is the most expensive ie say $39000, the SD in WA is about $2600 where in Victoria it is $1500, so I can pay $160 for RACV inspection, $880 for boxed/enclosed transport and still get it to WA for less than the SD in WA. Absurd. I will continue to monitor the site. There is a nice British Green Mini S 2003 with only 2,500 kms on clock in Adelaide, but with non mini dealer [Adelaide Special Vehicles], its in Motorpoint from memory, as ex a directors weekend car, has 17inch rims and been lowered, want $37995 for it which is a good price. I looked at a light blue 2004 mini S with only 8,000 kms but as standard with 16in, in WA, the only one, mint condition and wants $36500. So there are deals around. I agree with Todd, the best around currently is the JCW from Geelong but 2002 model. Im still thinking about it. Cheers |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | The Adelaide car sounds good... but only driven on weekends could been a number of things... there are lots of motorsports on weekends Keep looking anyway.Thinking about it all, if I was to do it again - i would buy a new one with the plan of holding onto it for at least 5 years. The car has (I think) started to settle its price to what we can realistically expect to sell/pay for them second hand (I hope you get my babble )With demand so strong and supply so poor, that will certainly help too... the market is a bit more favourable to sellers right now I think. Offline | Todd I would be interested to know about negotiating with dealers, as we only have Autoclassic in WA, they quoted onroad a new Cooper S Chilli with dual gauges and stripes both front and rear at $49,000 Do they drop anything or are they fixed pricing? Alternative is to buy from another Dealer, however, the WA may make service support a little difficult. Nike61 |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | Auto Classic have a very good Monopoly from what I can see. With the Chili pack was supposed to revolutionise the way be brought MINI's, but it has infact stuffed things up I think. My car was a Nov 03 build... it came with MF steering wheel, 1/2 leather, cruise, CD etc. The options fitted were a Sunroof and S spokes. I paid $45500 drive away. I had no trade-in. Based on $1600 for H/K Stereo & $2000 for Zenon's I'd still be better off than your situation. If I was to do it again (possibly so) I would get a stadard MCS with 1/2 Leather and HK - organise my own S spokes ($1500 TOPS with my choice of tyres! - see ebay) or whatever other wheels. I love my sunroof but even the Nov 03 built clicks and carries on, so I wouldnt waste my time with that again. I would stretch for the Harman/Kardon BTW - I got quoted $350 for the front stripes fitted from BMW... If I was you, I would contact Response Graphics in WA (he is on here as alexpalex) and get a quote for your stripe requirements. I'm almost 100% sure he is cheaper and will do a better job! Go new... if you can stretch that far, you wont regret it with a full warranty, gleaming scratch free paint, immaculate undercarriage... all you have to do is keep it that way. | Cruising In The Minge | Nike61 Auto Classic are fantastic to deal with. If you bought over east they wouldnt have a problem servicing etc for you. Both the sales manager and service guy are in clubMINI so you will be looked after very well. Very little room for negotiation on a new MINI here in WA not because they have the monopoly but more because there isnt much in them, they make their profit in accessories mainly.
