How Low Can You Go ?

Today i took these photos just before filling up at BP.

22km.

The red warning light does look brighter when that low.

Anyone had lower ?

Ditto as XTREEM and Tim..it looked kinda mad and the MCS goes quicker when it's in that range. "----" looks cool on the display.

Got unstuck once in the GTR. No one knows when you approaching empty on those things

Hi,

In my M3 I ran out fuel with 30kms showing on the range I rang BMW service and they sent a guy out with fuel. He had a laugh when I told him there was 30km showing on the range. Apparrently they are notoriously innaccurate, and the guy reckoned it kept him in a job

Cheers

Robbo

Beat this,
Drove to Batemans Bay (Mogo) to pick up 2 x 6 week old puppies for sisters for Enzo in a 3 day old CLK 320. Wind storm hit, and all power was down....including the servos. Ended up just making it to the main strip of Ulladulla before the fuel dried out (it actually cut out as I was doing a u-turn to try and get it into a servo carpark. Had been on '0' for about 40ks, just drifting up and down the roads (these are fairly remote areas).
Long story short, ended up leaving the car on the wrongside of the road abandoned in pitch black, lucky my bro had come down in another car, and had been held up by the tree which shut off all power and was able to turn around and pick us up.

Basically: 5 people/ 3 dogs, incl 2 new puppies/ 1 Rangey running low on fuel/ 3.a.m by time got home

My very first car (quite a few years ago) was an old mazda that my dad bought off a mate for $250, it was dull white so he painted it sky blue for me...yay ( not auto paint, and I swear it glowed in the dark )....anyways the fuel guage didn't work and neither did the speedo.... I only got $10/week for fuel and had to drive to uni every day- about 20k each way......the car ran on an oily rag, but i ran out of fuel all the time!! - my biggest fear was running out in the middle of peak hour traffic.....i still get flashbacks if stuck in traffic....

I *think* I've heard of MCS owners driving AFTER their range had expired, other than Tim's above too...

Don't you watch Top Gear? Leaving the car IN gear uses no fuel, but leaving it in neutral uses fuel to keep the engine idling! (Look for the episode where Clarkson drives an Audi A8 TDI 800 miles on one tank.

Hahaha - I ran the RnB dead empty one day - I left Melb with 16 km on the thingo and thought "I raped it through the city it will average out" well i get 72 km on it... I pulled out to soke this mole in a LAser that was trying to box me in and the car dropped power... I was coming to the top of a hill and the car lurked... I had cruise on and went "WTF!?!"

Kicked it in the pants and it coughed again... I couldnt work it out... then the motor stopped... I tried to start it again, but it didnt like that... I got to the top of the hill and rolled 2 km to a Caltex and put 53 litres in... the car took two tries to get it to turn over, but it started. Hahaha

Thats why I totally understand my n00b status

It ran fine afterwards...

u can say that again....i've seen 0 before (on the eastern freeway) and almost had a stroke trying to get up the hill on doncaster rd to get to the shell servo there...but i made it!! funny thing was i got abt 10kms with the thing on 0??

then another time....i had a "todd's RnB" moment where i had just overtaken a cute girl in a new SLK convertible (trying to look cool...yeah i know i'm sad...) and i tried to give it some gas but but it just shuddered, spluttered and died on me...and this was in afternoon rush hour traffic on toorak rd just before the M1 freeway entrance (talk abt embarrassment! i did get a sympathetic smile from the girl though....but she was probably thinking 'what a loser') HAHA the thing was it was showing 12 when i ran out of fuel so kinda confusing

wils

i got an exhaust because i wanted to make my car sound fast, but its not fast at all, so therefore i am a ricer....
