Unique Cars mailbag

Without blowing my own trumpet, (too much ) I wrote a letter to Unique Cars in regards to their long term test of the MINI Cooper S chili...

It got LETTER OF THE MONTH!!

I initially wrote the letter to say that I was enjoying their writing and invited them to come along on a monthly drive day and tell them to find more info on clubMINI and mini2.com

Here is what was published: (I'd scan it for you, but it is over two pages)

I think the MINI is often unfairly written up by the motoring journos, as they get in the car and fang it without taking in the whole lifestyle associated with MINI ownership. The long-term report is really highlighting what they miss - what sets the car apart from the other hot hatches.

I'm not sure is you know, but there is a new Australia-wide club dedicated to the new MINI. Known as clubMINI, it is fully supported by BMW Australia and has more than 250 members Australia-wide. Visit www.clubmini.com.au

Another good website for those into modding, etc. is www.mini2.com.

Enjoy the new MINI! I look forward to the updates.

Todd Knight.

It wasnt exactly what I said, but I think it puts a pretty positive spin on the new MINI community in Australia, as well as highlighting the club and mini2.com.

I sent the email through a fair while ago and got no reply. I had assumed that they didnt really care! I was wrong!

I won a Meguires gift pack!!

Todd

In the same issue there is an article about a new mini MINI Cooper S JCW model available from your local dealer at a cost of $115...

It's CR/W with JCW intercooler cover, seats, 18" rims, aerokit, bonnet stripes and driving lights, etc.

If you want to know anything more about it, contact your local or call 1800 682 385

Congrats Todd I've just read their Mini thing this arvo and was surprised how they perceived the Mini - better than most of the journo's out there with the right sort of attitude rather than dissing it's a more expensive cousin of *insert your favourite French hot hatch*

XTREEM: Those $20 ones with the Oricari bodykit on them hey? I've got one and the quality of it just blow goats. You should've seen the Kyosho one...I thought someone shrunk my car

Yeah...
I got one of these as well - more because it had the body kit and appeals to my love of tuning rather than the same old "factory" produced ones. But true enough the build quality is total sh*te, and while the livery promotes such things as Mini mania Recaro and BBS (The wheels are definately not a BBS design! ), the interior of the car has no back seats (not even roolcage!) and is full of speakers and an NOS bottle. Very Daft and the Dubious... I mean Fast and the Furious. And there is that "Neon underbody lights" effect..... Things that make you go Hmmmm. But for $20 what do you expect?

I did expect the neons to last more than pressing it 4 times I've pressed it to impress myself, then press it to impress my brother, then impress my gf then impress my folks...when the riceboys came over then it doesn't work. Argh.

Imagine how much face I've lost over that.......

I have found that the button takes some convincing to get it to work - since new even. I suspect that the terminals are corroded - probably from sitting in a warehouse trying to get them to sell!
