Indications are that they will be starting at mid 60's
but there are no known figures or options or even colours so its a case of wait and see.
either way its a BMW 6cyl so you cant go wrong.

Had the same idea myself, waiting for some news on priecs and final spec.
Looks an absolute Q-car and a cracker.

Bit of a bargain if the final price is around the mid 60's. It's probably a better base to start popping mods too - being a RWD and 6 cyclinder, almost just as nimble and quick as the MCS.

( wooohooo Line Lock city!!!!!)

Wow, very impressive. Imagine if you ditched the runflats, put decent rubber on and lowered it by 30mm! For $60k the 130i should be big success. I also hear they are doing an MPower version as well.. With the forthcoming large E90 M3 being a V8, I see the 1 series as having its spiritual roots in the E30 series which is where BMW have had most of its motorsport success. Good stuff Giles.

I've been thinking what you have been thinking B2! I love my 2002 and I want to get a M2 (the rumoured name of the new coupe based on the same platform as the 1)

I hear it is going to be priced around $90K... with a naturally aspirated 6 with 250kw and 1300kg!!

Im excited!!

EDIT - Lima, I dont think theyw ill ever use the M1 name in a car like the 1 series. Thats wwhy I think it will be called the M2...

This should really set you off then ... how about BMW M2 CSL 265KW and 1200kgs!
A mild factory tune and removal of sound deadening material and carbon fibre bonnet / roof / boot lid / bumpers should do it

That's a big call... and one I plan on verifying while I'm shopping in the coming weeks

As for mid $60k? I reckon with a few options you're looking at $80k+ on the road EASILY

Time will tell I guess...

Yeah, but there are some things that kilowatts and driving enjoyment forgive.

The design of the 1, like alot of BMWs of the past is very AVANT GARDE and controversial...

Future classic Im saying! The less people that buyt hem, the rarer they are

Tim, try the 120i - it's a bloody surprise. When Murray handed me the key yesterday (MCS getting a new windscreen and overflow bottle) I was skeptical about it but now I don't wanna hand the keys back!

Asked 2 dealers about 130i + Individual colour, they don't wanna talk to me

As for the 130i price, let's look at the old 325ti compact, they were $75k so I think the 130i will be somewhere around there as well...plus goodies. Even heard a rumour from a salesperson that there's gonna be a 2 door then a convertible. Beemer knows where the money is

I think that is the good part about htem Evan, wait for the 130... it is a pparantly a ball breaker.

I thought that they had already released the 130 in Europe? I thought there was even one at the Melbourne Motorshow?

I was talking to a BMW authority who said they were going to try to run them at this years Dutton Rally. You said they are aofficially released at Geneva though yeah?

Have spent time in a 325i and they were a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing too, but given their pricing, there's no way a 130 will be less than $75k on the road...

Hi,

I think the 130 looks like a great car However, I reckon the poverty spec will be $70k+ on the road, and a typically specced car will be $80k+

An M version would be interesting I'd love to see a really lightweight version (ie like the M3 CSL) stripped of luxury/heavy items eg electric seats, stereo, aircon, with lots of lightweight components like wheels and CF roof etc That would be getting back to the original philosophy of the M3. If they could get it to 1150kg with the M3 spec engine at 255kw that would be something worth buying

Cheers

Robbo
