| Still kickin' along | Since then, the car's got a new engineer's certificate and the defect lifted. I'm not sure if that also involves passing a normal roadworthy, or if they just check the things on the defect notice - as far as I know, the car is on the road legally now. It's not bezerk low, or super loud...it's a bit of sleeper...mind you....I'll ask him next time I speak to him... |

Offline | Well mechanically it will be the same as the 330 in the new 3 series. (but 6speed manual only.) So it needs all the gadgetry that goes with that running gear. other than that im guessing it will be like a 330 is to a 320... quite different. my understanding is also that the 130 will be build in one of the new German Factories and not in South Africa |

| Still kickin' along | Everything I've heard about the 1 series has been good... The styling eludes me a bit though... I saw a pic of some of the future models including a sedan shape. It seems interesting that the bmw range is getting (physically) bigger, including the 3 series range...because otherwise wouldn't it would seem that the 1 would be creeping into the 3 series market? ![]() cab: ![]() 3 door hatch: ![]() I reckon this (potential) coupe looks pretty good though - should put the 3.0l in that!: ![]() I think these images have been graphically re-touched...but they are a good 'teaser' |

Offline | hmmm looks like alot of smoke and mirrors in those pics.. ( far to much dreaming) my understanding from what BMW have said is that the 1 series will only ever be a 5 door. Im guessing the yet to be designed and tested 2 series may have the M spec and the coupe/softtop etc. I need a wagon.. so, meh i wont be complaining. |

| Twincharge??? | Not necessarily smoke in the mirror..one of the salesperson I haven't pi**ed off (yet) show me a memo posted from BMW Aust there will be 2 door and convertible variants release sometime in 2007. Obviously name and price is a big unknown right now. They suggested I should hold off the purchase till then....ok maybe they're right. They're pretty stressed over the E90 so there's not much attention left for the 1 series right now. |

Offline | Did the sums for the wife on a 120i, auto and pretty well fully loaded (no sat nav) it worked to $60k. I'd imagine that the same car as a 130i would be plus about +15-18K from list on a 120i. Although in that additional amount you'd be getting a few things like leather and bigger wheels which would be part of the 130i package. I'd reckon a loaded 130i at about $70-75k before the arm wrestle. Dont forget what an easy and big seller the old 325Ti was, dealers had them forever and most became executive driven or demos....BMW will have learnt their lesson on pricing a 'small' niche car. Robbo, loser buys lunch... Cheers, Mark |

Offline | Going out on a limb here.... this is my bet on what the M2 will have under the bonnet Ok after a bit of net surfing and a look at the specs of the R6 3lt engine its easily the most turbo chargeable engine i have seen. ( with infinately variable timinig and valvetronic) Plus there is a big rumor that the new 3 series will have a 335 being a 330 with the turbo R6 engine... as there will be a huge gape between the performance of the new M and the 330. ( BMW doesnt seem to like having big performance gaps in their ranges) http://www.auto123.com/en/info/news/...tid=40049&pg=1 Not sure how far off the mark they are... but sounds cool to me... Can you imagine a M2 being Turbo3lt 6 woooohooooo.. how bad would that be????? |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | I thought the M version of the X5 was the 4.Xis... the reason why they didnt call it an M X5 is because there is a little Mazda by that name and they didnt want to confuse the Yanks. No M1, but BMW are talking of naming their coupés even numbers, so the m2 is most likely... They will have to expend the 1 serries platform as they have spent so much money tooling up for it.
