Picked up my MCS on the weekend....

One word.. BLOODY WOW.. Absolutely loved the car, couldnt stop driving it since i picked it up.. went through over half a tank of fuel over the wkend (which i i felt was alot for such a small car ).

Friends thought i got the car brand new, which was such a big compliment to me considering i had picked it up 2nd hand

Couple things tho:

1) How do u guys with the Eibach springs manage to get around Sydney?
Whats the drop on these springs - the MCS is low enough as it is (ive had one or two
incidents over speed bumps and drive ways on the wkend )

2) When i was testing the car (as you do when u get a new car hehe), i found that i was pulling '2nds' quiet easily (flooring the car on 1st, then changing to 2nd at about 5000-6000 rpm), this is despite having DSC turned ON. is this right? or do my tyres need replacing? ( tho still plenty of tread left on the wheels!)

3)Might sound silly, but how do i turn on the washers for the Xenon lights? ( read in the book it was supposedly automatic, but thought id check? )

4)Wheres the runflat tyre repair kit stored? saw in the manual it was supposedly in the boot? but couldnt find it.

5) Do you guys ever use those front and rear 'fog' lights? or are they 'illegal' on Australian Roads?

Thanks guys and ill see you all on the roads!!

-Pete

Ps. im struggling to find custom plates for my MCS! they're all taken!!!!

wash the windscreen while the headlights are on and you'll hear another buzzing/whirring kind of sound - that's the xenon washers

you can still chrip the tyres in a first -> second gear change with DSC on

you would only use the foglights if its foggy!

Hey todd, well pulling '2nds' means when shifting to 2nd gear at high rpm (5-6k), theres a slight wheelspin and 'jerk' in doing this.

I guess i point this out coz i didnt really expect it with DSC turned on (thought this would prevent it or something? ), not sure if assumption correct.

Thanks - and loving everymoment of the car!!

PS. forgot to mention, copped alot of flak from my mates about my wheels! ( they're butt ugly) .. think ill have to do abit of research in getting new ones.!

Cheers

I assumed thats what you meant. The jolt is probably more likely to be DSC kicking in and stopping you from "blowing your intake off" more than anything...

Congrats on the new addition to your family.

Half a tank of fuel in a weekend means you are not driving it enough! Some of us do that in a day

lol thank goodness for that.. speaking of intakes, i must get a CAI.. i didnt feel that the sound of the 'whining' was loud enough from drivers POV when driving the car.. hopefully one of these will fix that up.

Wicked!

Congrats,

1) No idea, but I usually scrape with the trim under the front bumper going to fast over bumps...

2) Yeah I chirp the tires frequently when going hard, sometimes in third!!!

3)Turn on the lights and pull back on the washer for the front windscreen

4) See your glove box for a pouch or the battery well in the boot.

5) Never use rear but fronts are used frequently, really only for fog though....

But the important thing is we want to see Photo's...

Congrats too!

I know exactly what you mean and I've gone through the same questions It's great seeing those Xenon washers happen the first time. Largely pointless in our conditions though

I find it very easy to chirp the wheels, especially first gear pulling out into a corner; second gear is just wonderful though.. Oh the joys of a manual car. Probably the biggest issue with me is finding a comfortable position to sit in, takes a while.

Glad you got a great condition car; I'm loving mine too

I think head lamp washers are compulsory on zenons... well thats what a BMW dealer told me. Apparently slightly dirty zenons will throw the angle of light out of wack and blind oncoming traffic... don't know how true this is or maybe just a way for BMW to make some extra $ as you cannot specify zenons without washers on the new 1 series...

No, that's true. Washers are a must for xenons, it's an ADR.

It is the same setup on BMWs, I have a 330ci with xenons, the washers only work at night when the lights are on. The first time i washed the windows at night with the lights on, i got a shock when this fine spray came up over the bonnet. One disadvantage is that you are constantly filling up the water resovoir as you use twice as much water as normal.
