Offline | Eibach Pro Kit Costs Hi all. I've just started looking into the Eibach Pro Kit Springs (30mm lowering) and was wondering what others paid to get theirs. I was quoted $585 for the kit and roughly $300 for the installation. Is the install a fairly simple process? (I have a good mechanic friend who knows his stuff and with all the tools to help me out). Thanks in advance. Matt |

| Boy who made the wolf cry | If you have a mate who is a mechanic, he will know how to fit springs quite easy- save yourself the install fee. Contact Chris @ www.minisinmotion.com.au about an Eibach kit... he does them cheaper than $585 for mini2ers. PROJECT POLARIS - Die Wiedergeburt eines kultautos |

Offline | Todd, thanks for that mate. Have already been in contact with him, and will most probably buy direct from him and save a bit of dosh. I think i will install them myself. I'll have it on stands for a few days anyway, as i'm getting the wheels polished, so can do it then. Matt |

| fr34king n00b! | does anyone know if these springs would be a 'smart' choice given the quality of sydney roads? my other concerns are scrubbing. 30mm sounds alot , and when u add passengers, i dont think speed humps are a possibility. Let us know ur thoughts! -pete |

Offline | Some people have commented that the ride is as smooth or even smoother after fitting the Eibach springs! You can always kick the passengers out for speed humps I think Whiteline have some springs that are only 10mm lowered, that might be good for you if your worried about kicking the passengers out. I very rarely have passengers so loaded performance isnt a big deal for me. |

Offline | Pete I am currently running King Springs in my Cooper, the drop was about 20-25 mm all round. I am also running 215/40-17 tyres on aftermarket wheels. No scrubbing so far, but I rarely carry more than my son in the back. Cheers Chris |

| Still kickin' along | My Alta's a 30mm lowered all around...I don't get rubbing except for when I have a huge amount of stuff in the back. Got 215/40's on as well....I got a tiny bit of rubbing when I had the 40mm offset wheels on....but only when I had a heavy load in the back...if you have stock wheels, or at least wheels with an offset closer to stock - ie. 48-50mm, you won't have a porblem.... 30mm lower or 50mm higher...Sydney's roads are going to be awful no matter what car you're in... only Adelaide rivals Sydney for crapness of roads... |

Offline | JCW suspension only lowers by about 10mm I think. And given the name and the badge its a spring a shock replacement the price wasn't that bad when my dealer gave me the price... (IIRC it was between $1100-1500). |

Offline | Yeah, should be right mate. I thInk I do a 42 offset with same tyre size with Eibachs. Gonna run 215/40's soon so....should be fun. But if you're not running around with passengers then go whatever! Whats a bit of scraping!?! ![]() |

Offline | Sne.. I'm running H&R's that lowered my S by around 25mm. (lots of springs seem to lower around the same amount - they always give the figure that looks lowest but it depends on whether it is an S or a regular Cooper. The H&R's advertised 30-35mm for a Cooper, but the S is already 10mm lower than a Cooper). Tyre and wheel size? I have run 18x7.5's with an et of 45 and 215 35 18, as well as 17x7's with an et of 43 and 205 45 17. None of which have scraped at all - even loaded with 2 adults in back (includes pooey Melbourne roads!) The H&R's are firmer than stock but still very comfortable - On the twisties... Well you can check out my grin one day! ![]() |

Offline | Go for it Pete - Lower is much better, and as I said I had 18x7.5 offset of 45mm. Running 215 35 18's. I took a full Mini to the Sydney Motorshow, 3 adults and myself, and with those wheels and tyres there was no scrubbing at all. The only issue is that the 215 35 18 size tyre seems to be a bit on the small size for a rolling diameter, meaning that your speedo will read faster than you are actually doing, and your engine will rev a wee bit more for the same actual speed. The Go Mini magazine has loads of cars with 18's all running these tyre size and no-one has seemed to say anything about this issue yet. If you can find them go with a 205 40 18 (same size as the run-flats on the JCW 18 inch rims), but most tyre places will look at you as if you strange. Go with it and good luck mate. ![]() |
