getting sunroof replaced

Hey guys,

Just got phone call from BMW.... they're replacing my whole sunroof. Had some rattles in it.. If any of you guys have had this done, what's the implications of it? Will the replacement one leak? that sort of stuff.. kinda worried about it.

Gotta go pick up the car in abt an hr, so I'll talk to BMW then, but anything that i should be concerned abt?

I would say the new one would seal as goo as the old one, and should iron out all of your problems.

There has been a number of sunroof issues, from clunks to not closing and leaking... they are all repaired under warranty, but I wouldnt get the sunroof again if I was doing it over...

i love the sunroof coz it's so big and all that.. but just kinda ****es me off that it's causing this trouble. kinda makes the owning experience pretty crappy. I would have just thought that the quality would've been better than what it is.

every now and then there's a "crack" sound coming from the sunroof, and I thought originally it was happening over bumps only, but that's not the case. Just got the car back from BMW, and they said that there's something loose within the sunroof unit which is causing that sound, so they're going to replace the whole thing.

That being said, I'm kinda afraid that by replacing the whole unit, they might cause another set of problems...

Anyways, they're ordering a new sunroof in for me, and they said they'll fix it next week. I just thought if anyone of you guys have had your sunroof changed, what was the outcome.. good or bad. I figured it should be done properly, but I guess there's that piece of doubt that's lingering.

if a sunroof hole is already there you shouldnt have problems with leaking
its when a non factory sunroof is installed that you should worry because when they cut the roof there is a possibility you could warp the roof
