Mobil 1 Oil

I know there's been a thread regarding what oil to use for the cooper S, but I just thought that i'd mention this in case some people don't know. I purchased some Mobil 1 0W-40 for the mini today, and it is stated as being 'BMW Longlife-01'. I checked with the service guys and they agree that it will be fine for the S. $99.00 from Autobahn (nothing's too expensive for my baby )

$99? far out, last time I bought Mobil1 (admittedly, a few years ago), it was about $55 for 5 litres.

I know, tell me about it!!! This is the 'top of the range' gold bottle thingy mind you. The next type down in the silver bottle is $65.00. For all we know, it's the same thing in each bottle and Exxon is taking us for a ride....

A good tip:

If you can get your hands on a copy of the Entertainment Book (voucher book bought from charity and fundraisers), at the back are 20% discount vouchers (up to $20) to Autobahn valid every 1/4 year.
So that Mobil1 will end up only costing $79.20. BARGAIN ! ! !

Mamba.

My wife is the queen of discounts etc. and this is the first year in about six that she didn't order an entertainment book. We've could have used several of the vouchers in the past few weeks too.

I'm sorry to hear that mate

I use Shell Helix Ultra (used by Ferrari ) It is the Shell filly synthetic. It meets and exceeds all BMW standards set out for the MINI, and cost me $42 a bottle at the last supercheap 20% off sale.

Try shopping at Big W for oil... Mobil 1 there is only about $60 a bottle

Shell Helix Ultra 5w40. You can read the specs here

Having said that I have the castrol full synthetic in there at the moment. I don't know what possesed me. It's fine, but I'll go back to the shell simply because of price, and I can put it in everything in the garage. Also being cheaper I don't mind changing it more often
