Thinking of buying a Mini in Calgary

The wife has decided it's time to get a new car and is considering the Mini. We're off to Crowfoot tonight to take a look...anyone we should talk to in particular? I see looking at the dealership's website they have a few 05's left and a couple of used 03's. Does anyone know the history on the 03's they have there? She's not sure whether to buy new or used so we're pretty much open on choice. Doesn't look like there are many used Mini's through private sale these days.

Any words of advice for a prospective Mini purchaser?

Thanks!

Mike.

I bought my MINI Cooper off Craig (an English chap), very nice guy Sean is a good guy to talk to as well.

I think most of the used MINIs are slightly overpriced, unless it is EXACTLY what you want, you should consider getting a new one. Usually people who buys Minis are pretty picky about what they want to get, so lots of people custom order their MINIs from england and wait about 2 months for them. So if you get one from Crowfoot's inventory, they should be able to give you a better deal than ordering one.

Thanks for the info. I agree, some of the ones I've seen are overpriced! It would be nice if we could find an 05 Cooper sitting on a lot without a ton of options. Susan's fairly flexible on color & options so I think it will come down to the cheaper the better. She's also not in any rush so ordering may be the way to go...2 months doesn't seem too bad.

Yes, but with all the build & shipping tracking & hanging out on MINI2, those 2 months seem to go agonizingly slow...

And yes, make sure you talk to that English feller up at MINI Crowfoot... Both him and Sean also own MINIs.

Yes Craig is fantastic. Was very good with our son too. He's 4 and very busy.
I do hope you get one. Tell Susan we need more females here!

Thanks Clive for the offer but based on the options you have I think you would want more than what Susan wants to pay. She's thinking in the $25k +/- range. If she decides to get a brand new one it would most likely be just the Cooper. I did see that Crowfoot has a 03 Cooper S for $25,900 and Honda West has an 03 Cooper S for $26,900.

If she decides to buy a Mini I'm not sure if she'd come to a meet. She's attended a few S2000 meets with me but hates the drives (she's not a speed person). Loves watching F1 so I'll forgive her.

Hmm, I bought a brand new MC, $28k out the door. The problem is MINI rips you off with their "$2000" shipping and handling (well I suppose thats what feeds the people working in the dealership), so be prepared to pay a lot more than $25k out the door for a new cooper (with tax)

The dealership does charge $1600 for Freight & PDI - after all we do have to ship the MINI's over from Oxford England! Not a bad deal considering how far it has to travel.
The '06 MINI's just arrived last week so we are fresh on stock! MINI Crowfoot currently has the largest inventory of any MINI dealer in Canada. If you are considering purchasing a MINI - now is the best time of year as you have your pick of the litter.
If you have any other questions - please just give us a call at the dealership and we would be happy to assist. Cheers.

If she's considering a MINI, and likes F1, she must appreciate a fine handling automobile! And we're usually not as speedy as in October; it is just spirited motoring!

I attended one of the S2000 meets a while back. Think it was 2 meets ago. Good turn out....
We copied your meet location for our MINI meets. Parking lot by chapters crowfoot.

Country Hills Toyota had a MCS on the lot last time I was there. Think they were asking around 25K for it.

I suppose so, don't you wish the car would come quicker than 8 weeks though? hehe

Thanks to Craig for spending a long time with us last night. Susan's looking at her options and may end up ordering an 06 Cooper. She wants to try one for a longer test drive to see if it's exactly what she wants. Will probably do the longer test drive this weekend so we'll see.

Yeah, Craig is a good guy, and a very cool MINI owner too

For $28k out the door did you get any options? Did you buy a Cooper Classic?

Does anyone know much the dealership willing to deal on a Cooper with only the Premium package (factory order)?

Bear in mind my car was sitting on the lot in Winnipeg for a little while. I got a Cooper (non classic), so with Xenon, headlight washer... I have heated seats and the Multifunction steering wheel, Bonnet stripes, spare tire.

They say if you order one, they won't buldge on the price I like Craig so I think what he told me is right

Germany? That exhaust note has a decidedly English accent, Zero.
