Dealers in Montreal

Hi all,

I'm looking right now for buying a new car and I'm considering the MCS. I'm in Quebec City and I want you to share your impressions/experience with Mini dealers in Montreal area to help me choose which one I should trust or avoid.

Thanks.

Good ones : MINI Laval and especially MINI Brossard (Park Avenue)

To avoid : MINI Mont-Royal/BMW Canbec

Umm, I went to Mini Laval then to Mini Mont-Royal (Canbec.) The salesman at Laval told me "I cannot do anything on the price" The salesman at Mont-Royal told me "What would it take to get you in a Mini." Mini Mont Royal saved me almost $2000. So I wouldn't avoid Mont-Royal. Also, you do not have to bring it infor service where you buy it, so do not make your decision based on that.

Good luck with the MINI!

Wow, that's the first time I have heard of that anywhere in North America. Maybe they had extremely poor sales and were in danger of losing their MINI franchise?

Well seeing MINI Crowfoot was the only MINI dealership in Alberta for 3 years, obviously we don't get deals like that here

Typical salesman speech or what? I already heard the same words from a Nissan salesman Paying a car at full MSRP kinda bother me and that seems to be the rule when buying a Mini. Maybe I'm too cheap!!

Thanks for the input and anybody else feel free to share your experience. I'm taking a day off next week to go out test drive the Mini and an Audi.

I don't think they had poor sales. To be honest I have noticed more Mini's on the road lately than ever before (maybe cause I own one now.) 2 friends of mine received their Mini's a month before I ordered mine and we both got the same 39 month lease rate. We got more or less the same options. They are paying $500+/month, I am under $500/month. I think the dealer may have gave me some sort of hidden discount or something. Maybe they didn't charge me for the premium pack or LSD?

I bought mine at Laval - but Mont Royal was very competitive..

They were both very upfront about pricing (once I told them I was shopping around).

With 3 dealers in the city - rest assured they all *can* negotiate.

However, if you would rather skip the negotiation stuff, consider calling the APA http://apa.ca/template.asp?DocID=117.
They might be able to get you a pre-negotiated price (they were able to with MINIs when I bought my '03)

I'm late with an answer but if ne1 else needs this info. fwiw I think what DarkMCS meant is avoid Canbec for service and instead go to laval or brossard. But sales-wise Mont-Royal is as good as the other two, just go to wherever you get the best deal and then choose where you want to service the car. just my 2 cents.

I personnally bought from Mont-Royal and had a pleasant sales experience.

I really dislike the owner at MINI Mont-Royal. He is rude to his employees and it shows to the clients ...

MINI Mont-Royal on St-Laurent moved right beside BMW Canbec on Jean-Talon.
Does that mean they are also working on improving their service department ? Let's hope they fired the manager while they're at it!

It would be nice not to have to drive half an hour each time I have to go to the dealership.

That's a real shame Mont-Royal moved off of St. Laurent - I found it was a really great experience to shop for a car in an urban environment like that.
MINI Yaletown is similar.

I remember the salesman telling me that MINI Canada was assisting the dealership with the cost of that sales office.... perhaps it was only a 3 or 4 year agreement.
