Offline | With the great turn out of the November 2005 meet (Pictures here) I'm sure most of you are eager to go for another one! When should the next meet be? December is a pretty busy holiday season for many people, so perhaps the next meet should be a little later? You be the judge! Also, since there will most likely be snow on the road in the next 4 months, perhaps this meet should be in the city? I think a winter autoX course could be fun as well! Or maybe we can do a charity drive to bring kids gifts? Throw your ideas out here ![]() |

Offline | Maybe an idea for next year. Crowfoot should have a deal to see how many toys it would take to fill up a mini. Then have a run to a chosen charity to drop them off. Would be a good news item too. Charity ideas. Toy run we would need to find out who needs some. I think the Salvation Army has a place. Mini Vee does trains for kids with his model train group so he might now of other stuff they need. We could adopt a family. I cannot remember who runs that. Herald?? I work at Castle Toys here in the south. If we decide on a toy run. I gonna ask my boss if he'll give a discount to anyone showing up in their Mini. ![]() T Last edited by MINI Artist : Nov 21st, 2005 at 07:58 PM. |

Offline | I was talking to FrenchCanadian about this and he said you'll get so much mud and little rocks on the car he'd rather not do it. I wonder if there is enough time to organize a charity run (it is less than a month away if we do elect to do it), and I suppose winter autoX with our nice shiny MINIs in a gravel lot might not be too popular either. Are there any ice lakes near here that we can go rent/play in? Maybe make the next meet in Jan/Feb when there is enough ice to drive? I think it would be very informative to learn how to drive a car near the limit on ice. But if we can organize a charity run in time for this December that would be great too, I have no idea how it works though, so the people who knows more than I do, please comment ![]() |

Offline | I wouldn't mind a charity run, but have no idea how we'd pull it off. Also, I think we should do some sort of MINI autocross ourselves - maybe next spring? We'd just have to find somewhere we can patch together a tarmac track and try it out. Unless Race City is open again by then. Just a thought. Driving is Everything ... Anything else is just waiting around ... |

Offline | That would be fun! If you don't get stuck behind some big trailer thing on Highway 1! The thing is though, I really wouldn't plan on a spirited mountain drive through the Rockies in the middle of winter. Even if Calgary doesn't snow, there will be (and already is) snow in the mountains. I mean, Hwy 1 is almost never so bad that cars get stuck there, but us MINI owners tend to be some of the faster drivers out there, and I wouldn't want anyone to risk driving too fast or misjudge an icy corner. Rest assured, we will definitely be going to interior BC for a run next year. An Alberta + BC meet is in the planning stage, and we will definitely be driving into BC for one reason or another (twisties, mostly ) We will also be doing the loop from Calgary to Kananaskis lakes, through Highwood pass, to Black Diamond, back to Calgary. Thats a fairly long 4-5 hour drive as well.Since we've only started getting together, I've been trying to keep the route distance down a little bit, so more people would come out and drive together. For the winter months personally I think its best to plan activities nearer the city (or inside the city) just for safety's sake. Either that, or some controlled enviroment where we could have some fun sliding the MINIs around I'm pretty conservative eh? ![]() |

Offline | Very good point!! didnt even think of that. Yea i guess during the winter months we should just cool it a bit, to make sure we're all alive and healty for the more 'spirited' meets in the spring =) |

Offline | Hey all. I'm new to this site - just found out about it from Mike at the dealership when I was getting my very first oil change today! It's awesome to see the events being organized, and I'd love to make it out to the next one (I can even bring my electric blue Mini, from what I've read, you guys were short one of those last month!). Anyways, just wanted to say hello, and I'm looking forward to making it out and seeing all those Minis in person!! |

Offline | Welcome, micaela! Don't miss the next one! We definately needed an E.Blue Mini out - I think gold and that '02 burgundy colour were the only other two absent. Love to see at least one of each next time. |

Offline | On a side note, any of you Calgarians want to buy a North American Motoring MINI Calendar for 2006? http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=56414 If we have more than 10 buyers we can get a little discount :P |

Offline | Toy Drive My reserve unit is looking into joining a charity drive. When businesses and malls collect the toys, they need folks to drive them to the houses. I'lll post more as I find out. I've been ice-sailing on Ghost Lake. The day I went there was drift-snow packed irregular on the surface, but the day before had been like glass. Could be a bit wild just throwing some cones out and doing some runs. |

Offline | Meh, a little pricey, especially when it gets shipped FedEx -- they'll kill you on the brokerage fees. Might be better off getting Mini-Trainer's calendar that he's doing in PDF, and having a local place here print some up. |

Offline | Safe? It gets safe enough for half ton trucks. How much stuff do you usually put in your car.... Of course every spring, someone pushes their luck and loses their truck. |
