Offline | Wasn't sure what route the Calgary group would come. 97 works well to mesh the two groups. Looks like it should be north of Penticton. We will be travelling from the Vancouver area on Friday AM with a group of older British sports cars via Hope-Princeton. They are a great group of people. When a time is established, I will post here so you can join us if you wish. Yes, we will be in our 2003 Cooper. Two years ago, because we stuck with a guy who's gearing wasn't too great, (everyone else left him to his own devices, we're so nice) we got about 47 mpg on the way to the show. By ourselves on the way home, we got about 39. Hmm, slightly faster drive home I would say. I'm looking forward to this. |

| MINI2 Regular | Sounds good, I've love to join up with your group. I'm so excited, haven't been to a car event like this since I had my 55 Chevy years ago. Called the car dealer yesterday and according to his findings on the computer my car is in Halifax.....it's getting closer! It will be harder to get to sleep now, knowing it's almost here. ![]() |

Offline | Who from Calgary can say they are definately going at this time? I would like to leave on the Thursday and avoid most of the long-weekend traffic. Also, myself and one other car are planning to take the road less travelled (by me, anyway the Crowsnest Pass. Anyone else from Calgary for the long route? |

Offline | Up in the air at this time, as we are in the midst of buying a new house (with a garage, yippee) and my wife expecting at the end of the summer. We would be taking the "regular" road out on Friday morning though. ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | Expecting? Expecting what? Congrats!! MINI C will have a mini mate. And, congratulations on the garage. Crazy time to be upsizing in Calgary, isn't it? But still, push for Penticton - it should be a good time. |

Offline | Wow, congrats MiniVee and My T Mini! I'm not entirely sure if I'll be going, I'm getting a new job and they want me to work starting mid June, so I'm not sure if I can take days off so soon. And if I'm going (which I really want to) I'll have to pop down to Vancouver, so I'm not sure if I can stay overnight in Penticton. |

Offline | Definately going??? I can't even commit to feeding my cat once a day but do have it on my schedule. Probably looking at the short route #1 to 97 since I know all the passing lanes well and I hear the holding cells (while posting bail) in Golden and Vernon are posher than Sparwood and Cranbrook combined! Will firm up plans in late May sometime. |

Offline | Hmmm. From Saturday's order date, 10 weeks lead time gives me a delivery date of the week of this event! But I thought I was getting July delivery? Ehhh... If all goes well, count me in, but of course I probably won't be able to get a predicatable delivery date for many weeks yet. |

| 05 MCS BEP | Okay....if you are going to this, and you haven't booked a hotel yet, do it NOW!!!! I just booked my hotel. The rooms are in pretty short supply as the July 1 long weekend is probably Penticton's busiest weekend of the year. Those who aren't able to convoy to Penticton from the Vancouver area on the Friday morning (with Velveteen Mini and others), I plan to head up to Penticton from N. Delta in the mid afternoon, after 4:00pm. We'll probably stop in Hope or something for dinner and then continue driving to Penticton from there. Let me know if there's interest in a group drive from there. Cheers! |

Offline | Hope you don't mind a MINI owner from the States joining in. I just booked a room, and will be sending in the rally form soon. Any decision yet on Saturday night dinner? If you/we opt out of the Sat dinner, will we still be able to go to the awards/auction/raffle/band part that night? I'm new to the MINI scene, my car is just about to dock here in California. Penticton in the title of the thread caught my eye, as I was up in that area in 2003 for a British motorcycle club I'm in, and once one other vacation. My father lives in Washington, so I'm always looking for something to do while I'm up in that region. I then contacted a fellow in my motorcycle club that lives in BC, that mentioned before that he had a Mini, to see if he knew anything about this event, and he told me that another guy I know from the same mc club is one of the organizers of this event! Small world. My wife's sister is in Seattle, so I don't know yet if we will be heading to Penticton from there, or from my father's in Sequim. Might be able to make an early morning run up to Vancouver Fri to make the run with a group. Does that sound feasible? How long will the run from Vancouver to Penticton take? Trying to get an idea for how early I would have to get up! Looking forward to hitting the wineries in the Okanagan again. Love that ice wine. |

Offline | TouringComet: If you can make it that would be great. The setting on Lakeshore Drive is stunning - particularly on a sunny day - and who could ask for more. According to my GPS the drive from the Peach Arch crossing should be about 4 hours through the Hope - Princton but there are some variables. First, you are in a MINI and second we may be travelling with a slightly slower group and last, the GPS could be wrong. Velveteen_Mini has promised to post instructions for meeting time and location. |

| 05 MCS BEP | Glad you can make it, TouringComet. I and my family will be driving from the Vancouver area to Penticton, leaving Vancouver in the late afternoon. My route would be to go via Highway 1 to Hope, the Hope-Princeton highway and to Penticton from Princeton. The Hope Princeton is one of those great twisty mountain highways our MINIs are built for. Though I think the shortest path for you would be to cross the border at Osoyoos. The drive through the Cascades looks like a fun drive too. |

Offline | Looking forward to meeting you TouringComet. I will be going up with a slower group. Brian and I have not registered for either Friday night dinner or Saturday banquet. We have never done the banquet and also not done the awards etc. Don't know if one can go in after everyone has eaten, we've never tried. I don't know how many people have registered for food either night. As things get closer I guess we will figure out where to meet and for what. Yes, the winery tours are great. |

Offline | Not too concerned about the shortest route, especially if we can hook up with a group. I would like to get there in time for the Friday BBQ dinner, though. I'm trying to remember what roads we've been on in that area. One year we went to Mara Lake, and in 2003 we stayed at Harrison Hot Springs, and went on a multi-day tour that ended up going through the Okanagan Valley. I remember one road where we stopped at a nice swimming hole. |

Offline | Car Show I am very interested in going but I can't register just yet as I don't take delivery of my Mini for a couple of weeks. I will post an update when the car arrives. I would like to leave with you guys from the Vancouver/Surrey/etc areas as a group if possible. Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes.....That way if you **** him off, you will be a mile away and he will have no shoes.... |

| 05 MCS BEP | Masada, If you're in Cloverdale, you aren't too far away from myself or Velveteen_mini. I'm in N. Delta near Highway 10 and Velveteen_mini is in S. Surrey so it won't be too hard for you to join up with either group. The group going up with Velveteen_mini will include a few older classic British cars so the drive would be easier on your car as you will probably still be breaking in the engine. Hope to see pix of your car soon ![]() |

Offline | I have just sent in my registration for the car show only. I understand from Kelowna MINI that someone in Kelowna is starting up a MINI club for the Okanagan. Hopefully it gets going soon, and more of us locals will be at the rally. TouringComet - plan on 4.5 hrs at a good clip from the border to Penticton via HWY3, with a brief pit stop and gas up if necessary (better fill up in Blaine!). But if you come on Friday afternoon, you can take 0 Ave to Abbotsford, and avoid the zoo on Hwy 1! Or just cross at Sumas. Anyone got a count on how many MINIs will be there now? I'm looking forward to meeting you all! |
