| Having a Mini Adventure!! | If the upgraded sound system is H/K then I can heartily recommend it!! I have it in my 05 EB/B MC and it is awesome!! 17K kms is actually lower mileage than my 05 MC, so its not a massive amount, but sure does make the choosing tht much harder! Good luck making your mind up! |

Offline | Just to add to the confusion. If I could do it again, I would get a bare bones S. I would not get the climate control, or the H/K sound system. Climate control overcompensates, and is quite annoying compared to other cars I have/had. The H/K is okay, but I would love to install an aftermarket deck and can't do so with the H/K. |

Offline | If price is more or less the same, and you can live without the options. Go for the one with lower kms. IMO the lower mileage is worth more than the options. Are they both demos though?? |

Offline | The Calgary one is a demo and the other one is a former lease. The good thing about the leased one is that it is a certified used compared to the Calgary one which is not. |

| 05 MCS BEP | To toss a monkey wrench into your decision... At 28000, you're getting into range for a very base model of a Cooper S. Because the MINI comes pretty well equipped already, personnlly, I would forgo NAV, Premium Pkg and a slew of other expensive options. Even the Cooper, I would recommend a very basic Cooper and if your wallet is not that big, I would even get the Cooper Classic. A comparatively equipped brand new Cooper classic is about $2000 less than a fully loaded Mazda 3GT. The Cooper is better equipped with ASC+T, an extra set of airbags, drive-by-wire throttle. So the question turns into....should you buy a well appointed slightly used MINI Cooper for 28K, or should you just get a brand new, less well appointed MINI Cooper for a bit less? Or if you can stomach a few thou more and up it to a brand new base model Cooper S? Too bad there aren't that many used Cooper S' out there for comparison purposes. |

Offline | If I could do it again, I would either buy a base cooperS, or a cooper. I enjoy (and hate) driving both models just as much. The things that I like and hate are the same on both models. So many things about this car that annoy me, but I still enjoy driving it... IMO the extras aren't worth it. I think I have said this in every thread like this. Someone buy my cooperS. haha. Fully loaded except nav. |

| Fly Heli's they're fun! | Well as I just went through this a few months ago, I will add a couple of tidbits to help muddy the waters. So here are MY opinions: Premium Package - necessary option for me. Has the wonderful panaroof and cruise control, to me were essential. Some don't like the pana roof, I sure do. That's it for necessary. For me, the classic doesn't have the pana roof and cruise control, which were deal breakers for me. If you don't want cruise or the pana roof, then go classic and get new. Otherwise get the 5800km ones. Mine was actually a employee vehicle too, and so far so good. It is a good way to get a Mini for a weeeee bit less. Personally, for me, the S does not meet the fuel requirements I wanted, but it should would be fun to drive! Whatever you get, once you get it, you will like it! Hey Sean, can I get a referral? ![]() |

| 05 MCS BEP | Come to think of it, if fun to drive was your main criteria, I found the Cooper to be more involving a drive than the S. I have an S because where I live, my commute involves going over lots of hills and the added power was a requirement. But I found the Cooper engine to be more willing to rev. I also like the lower hood design (without the scoop) better on the Cooper. It just looks cleaner. This is not to say I am not absolutely happy with my MCS. It just depends on your requirements. |

Offline | I have been quite happy with my Cooper Classic - if you can live without cruise control, sunroof, and other options that simply aren't available on the Classic, I give it a hearty recommendation. Although the car does not include the Xenon low beams I have never found the lighting to be lacking. The looks are the same as any Cooper on the road with the exception of no metallic paint availability and the aforementioned halogen lights, but it takes a keen eye to distinguish one model from the other. The Classic is also amenable to the typical mods one can add to a Cooper, I have added the rear sway bar from an "S", euro parcel shelf, 16" X-lites for summer, etc. Oh, and if the lack of cruise control is a deal breaker, you can now have the dealer add it as an OEM retrofit kit, albeit a little pricey at around $1,500.00! |

Offline | Welcome to the 'family', Strangehate! I'm sure Sean will get over it! Any sort of MINI community in Edmonton? We don't see posts all that often from the E-Tribe. If not, you can make the run to Calgary and join some of ours. I hope you enjoy your car... ![]() |

| 05 MCS BEP | Congratulations! To both you and Sean. Hope our discussion on this thread didn't jeopardize the deal. In fact, I hope the discussion gives the sales person insight on what a prospective customer considers when purchasing a car. Well done! Welcome to the MINI owners collective (resistance is futile...assimulation to the MINI collective begins immediately). Let's see some pictures ![]() |

Offline | I will get some pictures up in a few days. So far the Mini has greatly exceeded my expectations. It is by far the most exciting drive I have ever had. Wow. That is all I can say. A shout out to Mini_Onslow for convincing me to take a look at these cars. |
