Offline | If you are thinking of ordering an '06.. The new model is due to launch in Europe in September, and this will mean no more of the current version coming down the production line. We won't receive the new car in North America until February of 2007. What this means is from September forward all the cars available in Canada ( and I assume the US ) will be prebuilt - no factory order / individual specced cars. I had been wondering what was going to happen, and then we were told this on Saturday at the dealership. I hope we don't run out of cars before the end of January !! |

Offline | Haha. 'Mmmm, Monday, so I'll take the blue one'. MiniVee; I assume that we would recieve our allocation at the same rate, but the cars would be kept in Halifax. |

Offline | Canadian Special Edition This has been on the MINI extranet for a week now, but I only saw it today - The remaining '06 production (June on) of Cooper 'S' are 'Special Edition'; essentially the current Premium pkg, Sport pkg, plus the H.K sound system, the 17" Flame Spoke rims that are currently only available on the 'Checkmate', and for the first time in Canada, power folding mirrors and a No Charge 3yr / 60,000km scheduled maintenance program. Upholstery is panther black leatherette, SIlver Space cloth, or Park Lane English leather, and colours are Chili Red, Dark Silver, Hyper Blue or Astro Black. Cockpit Chrono is still available to add, and so is the Steptronic tranny. No price given at this point. What do you think? |

Offline | I want power folding mirrors on my car!!!! Especially since I'm stuffing a MINI and an Expy into a two car garage.... So if I read that correctly, all the SE MCS' are being equiped with those horse shoe wheels? ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | This is exactly what I was told when I was at the dealership Thursday afternoon. My wife and I were waiting for Test Fly to order our MINI so we could get ~$1k worth of freebies. Trouble is that they're NOT HAVING ONE this year, or at least they'll wait for October and the '07 model. I'm not thrilled with this so-called "special edition". I first heard of it a few days before I went to the dealership, and was really hoping for something truly special since we're not getting the GP here in Canada. It turns out that all they're doing is (severely) limiting choice as far as options and colours go. Yeah the no charge maintenance for the first three years is nice, and it's got power folding mirrors, but that's an option I'd NEVER use. Oh and FWIW, it would seem that you can spec S-spokes instead of Flame Spokes as a no-cost option. I think they come with all-season rubber instead of summer tires (or is it the other way 'round?). |

Offline | I did a quick google search, then one on Mini2, and couldn't really find any information on power folding mirrors. Is all they do just rotate 90 degrees, so that the mirror surface would be facing inside the car? I actually never thought to check, but can you do this with current Canadian 2006's, albeit manually? Okay, now onto the slightly cheeky / humorous part of my post.... I guess maybe I don't see the point, but this option seems silly.... especially when you have to reach (or get out and walk around) to the passenger's side to pop the bonnet anyway. If you can get power folding mirrors, then surely you should be able to get a power bonnet release button on the drivers side, perhaps even mounted on the steering wheel! That would be cool. Or maybe a power gas cap release button on the outside of the car so that you don't have to unscrew it when filling up. Perhaps when racing, if you still have backseats in your ride, you can have a power rear seat fold-down button so that the 36lb of seats sits lower in the car for performance cornering... ![]() |

Offline | Ha, I wish it was just a small Exploder. The Expedition is even bigger . And yes, if I can both of them in, I will. It is an extra length garage, so it and Sheamus should both fit, albeit a little on the tight side. That's why I was curious about the power folding mirrors (AGC, they fold the same way as the manual ones); it would be handy to fold them in before proceeding through the entry way and wiggling in beside the big beast... Can power folding mirrors be retrofitted? ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

| Sean | Oh and FWIW, it would seem that you can spec S-spokes instead of Flame Spokes as a no-cost option. I think they come with all-season rubber instead of summer tires (or is it the other way 'round?).[/quote] The Special Edition will come default with the Flame Spoke Rims w/ summer performance tyres - or for no cost you can elect to have the S-Spoke Rims w/ all-season tyres. Personally I love the Flames Spokes! If you have to get an extra set of winter tyres (which isn't a bad idea on any car) it's worth it. I think the Special Edition is going to be a nice little package - and I wouldn' be surprised if they put a nice sticker price on the window as well. We'll just have to wait and see! |
