Offline | Track Day at Race City - Calgary ** Sticky me Please ** As you all know there a few lead foots in the group and we can not legally race on the city streets. So I thought I would post a feeler to who would be interested in doing a track day at Race City sometime in the summer. I will be in contact with Race City figuring out costs and safety associated with this and hopefully we will be able to get something going. The even would be held during an evening as the cost of the track rental allows us for a smaller group. So you would be looking at roughly a 4 - 5 hour window of lapping at race city. I know friends who have done track days with their motorbikes and the cost has been roughly $150 per car, not too bad considering the costs of speeding tickets nowadays. This would be open to anyone and everyone who wants to have fun on the track, dont worry your not allowed to pass in the corners so if you want to just see what the MINI can do by all means put your name down. If not enough MINI's want in then I think it will be fairly easy to open this up to BMW owners as well. Names: 1) Bydgoszcz 2) Tobias 3) Syzmtrs 4) MiniMorison 5) MiniVee 6) Last edited by Bydgoszcz : Jun 2nd, 2006 at 08:33 PM. |

Offline | Honestly, my foot is not lead ... it is just won't bend. I have to rest it on the floor most of the time in order to drive comfortably ... the pedal just gets in the way ... oops ... Just give me enough notice to get my new tires put on .... Driving is Everything ... Anything else is just waiting around ... |

Offline | If you are concerned.. For those that may be shy about this type of event, you only race against yourself. That is, you do a lap and post a time. Your next lap you can choose to better that time, though you are never required to exceed your comfort level. It is not 'wheel to wheel' racing. If you are holding up cars in the corners at the next straight you let them pass and the pressure is off, and there is no passing in corners. It is a very good way of discovering your cars abilities that can translate directly to everyday driving situations, and from what I have seen the Mini commmunity is an extremely friendly and helpful bunch, so no fear of being ridiculed. Personally, I can't wait, and if you, Mike, need a hand sorting this out give me a call. |

Offline | Ohhh! I'd love to do this, but my car is for sale right now and someone is interested in the car. Maybe I borrow my father's M5 for this event! I don't think I should take my bike on the track when I first get it lol. |

Offline | Well this list looks like its just flying off the hook, but I am looking for another option I heard of a rumor of someone else holding a track day that maybe 6 MINIs could fit in to, from what I heard it would be $125 per person for a full day depending on the amount of cars that show up. Ill keep u posted. |

Offline | Does anyone know if a guy needs to (or can, for that matter) buy separate Track Day Insurance in case of an on track mishap that damages their MINI? I'm fairly certain that there won't be any "brown trouser" moments, but you never know, and I suspect that regular insurance doesn't cover running around trace tracks... ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |
