The Vancouver Mini Cooper Club is thinking of putting together a one-day MINI only track event in the month of August, but we need your feedback to determine if we have sufficient interest to hold it.


Brief details:

1. Will be held on a Monday (weekends are not possible), either on August 14 or 28. Location: Mission Raceway Park
2. Will be organized by Driving Unlimited for the VMCC; you provide the car, they provide the venue, instructors and training. Having it through Driving Unlimited also means that participating in this event will not invalidate your car insurance.
3. Cost to participate is approx CDN$220 each for VMCC members,CDN$250 for non-members (club membership is CDN$35 annually). The cost may go down if we are successful in getting some sponsorship for this event, but it is not a given.

We need a minimum of 24 participating cars to make this event a possibility, so if you are interested in attending, we need your feedback ASAP!! Email us at eventmanager@vancouverminicooperclub.com . Include your name, email address, contact phone number, what year and model MINI you drive, and which of the two dates above work best for you.

We need to get your feedback (only if you are interested in attending) by the end of June, at which point we will decide whether to go ahead or not.

Quick update - at last count, we are over the 50% mark of the required 24 drivers in order to go ahead with the planning of the abovementioned track day.

If you are a MINI owner and:

1. live in the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley (actually, we don't care where you are from, as long as you drive a MINI and can turn up at this event )
2. can afford the cost of participation as spelled out above
3. can make it for the dates listed, either August 14 or 28;

we need to hear from you ASAP!!!

If anyone is interested in the track day that we are trying to have in August - we are currently short by about 10 cars.

We currently have 15-16 interested MINI owners, but need to have a minimum of 24 cars. We are trying to get up to 28 cars, to allow for people dropping out at the last moment.

Rather than calling off the track day for this season, we are trying one last push - thus, we are opening up the track day event to other makes of cars other than MINIs.

If you know of anyone who is interested in participating, but doesn't own a MINI, have them contact us as per the details above!

This is a great event. I am attending in my MINI Cooper CVT and my husband is coming in his Saturn Ion Redline. We may even swap cars for a few laps. We have done this event before and it definitely worth while. Not only do you get to throw your car around a track but you get instruction that can save your life in rush hour. I know, I've used the info more than once. Why do bigger cars keep trying to squash me?

If you are in the Vancouver area and can convince your boss to give you the time off, I recommend you come with us to the track. You won't be sorry.
