Canada Mini-Trunk adds Utility and Security to your MINI

Hi,

If you like driving with the rear seats folded as I do, I have a product that I'm attempting to bring to market that adds both features mentioned above.

Mini-Trunk is a flat floor panel that sits in place behind the rear seats and rear hatch door.

It completes the interior providing you a "station wagon" type rear floor, level and easy to slip items in and out.

It also covers the recessed portion of the trunk, the area usually full of items you'd prefer be unseen. Installing the panel (no tools required) removes from sight items that you would like to leave in the car but unseen.

I'm looking for interested Mini owners who would like to test drive one of our proto-types to help us evaluate the product. The Mini-Trunk will be shipped to you at no cost.

Thanks for your interest.

I think this is a great idea. I was thinking of something like this too but don't have the engineering skills or equipment to fabricate such a thing. I was thinking of getting one of those storage boxes that fit in our trunks from MINI.

One thing I thought, if I were to suddenly need my back seats and have to put them up, where would I put the mini trunk? Would it be easy to store?

Do you have a price target for bringing it to market?

Canada Mini-Trunk

Hi,

The Mini-Trunk fits in both positions. The only thing you do is adjust the strap length to fit the height level needed. It takes less than 30 seconds to do

The final product will come in its own clear plastic bag, not unlike what you see in a department store where they sell sheets. The bag (samples arrived this week) has handles that will allow it to be hung up if you desire to remove it from the car.

I have now had three different units in my car since I started this back before Christmas. I have yet needed to remove it.

I'm prepared to let you have one as a tester. I ask that you please write me as follows, giving me your co-ordinates including postal codes and phone numbers.

please write to msurkis@gmail.com

Thank you.

I await your reply.

I notice that the seat backs rub against the seats themselves when folded down. The squeaking sound is irritating and I'm worried they will rub a spot raw. Does your product address this issue? As in, will there be enough tension to keep the seat backs from bouncing up and down?

If so, I am happy to offer the velveteen mini as a test subject.

Put a towel on the rear seat cushion before folding down the seat backs.

I have offered Velveteen MINI as a test subject. With the amount of drives and shows we will be attending in the next couple of moths the MINI-Trunk should come in very handy. I'm looking forward to testing it out.

By the way, I never seem to have a towel in the car and I figured a more complicated solution to the seat back squeak was in order. Sometimes, it's the simple things that we miss. I will give it a try.

Hi all,

Okay...Martin sent me a MINI trunk, version 2 to try out. I took some pictures and wrote up some of my thoughts on it. Martin has responded corrected me on my statement on the logo. He was right to let me know it's embroidered. At the time, the word slipped my mind.

If interested, have a read here.
