The Highwood drive sounds great. We just need to find a definate place for lunch.

I could go for the overnight thing as well, as long as the cost wasn't much.

Driving is Everything ... Anything else is just waiting around ...

What I had in mind was a run starting on a Saturday morning to Creston ( approx. 7 hours)and the next day running up to the Kootenay Ferry, looping around Kootenay Lake through Nelson, Salmo, etc - officially a six hour drive back to Creston. And if the stop was Creston we could arrange a Kokanee brewery tour !! (Maybe we could spot a Sasquatch, or better yet, those assistant Rangers. Mmmm.) Come to think of it, it may be something better suited to a long weekend, because there would still be the trip back to Calgary after the return to Creston. But what a drive that would be

http://www.google.ca/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Salmo+BC&daddr=Creston+BC&ie= UTF8&ll=49.339441,-116.924744&spn=0.850051,1.826477&t=h&om=1

But for a one-day jaunt, I'm down with Highwood. Oh yea, by the way, I am now the ONLY Mini driving M.A at Crowfoot - SYZMTRS is a sellout!!!!!

Hey, Glad to see something happening. For me neither date is the best so far. with the 27th being more feasible. 400 km is quite a ways, and would definately require a break point in the middle.

How about meeting somewhere in the south end of town instead, and eliminating the drive on the 22 to Elbow Falls and back (leaving it for another, shorter run). Take the 22x to Millarville, and proceed on the 22/541 to Kananaskis. This would probably shave 100km off the run, making it more manageable. We could have tea and biscuits (or hot dogs on the grill) at the Kananaskis Lakes. the 27th would work better for us.

Definitely, I didn't even look at the map, we'll skip Elbow falls and just drive the loop from 22X to 549, then 546, and turn into Hwy 40, drive up to the pass, stop somewhere near there (the mid way point), then continue north on 40 and back onto Hwy 1 to Calgary.

And yes meeting down south makes a lot more sense as well. Just pick some mall parking lot with a place to get coffee

SYZMTRS is a sellout? I heard from a reliable source that it was that the Shriner clowns wanted their car back? Maybe it was concern that Xtreme was now running premium gas in his Cooper again and got worried that the added drag of SYZMTRS flame decals would make it hard to keep up at the next Calgary MINI RUN?

For the record - Craig is not the only one at Mini Crowfoot that drives a MINI. I still have SYZMTRS and he is better than ever. He is however looking to leave the nest and find a new home. If anyone is looking for a tricked out JCW - He is available.
My MINI was lonely and needed some companionship so I decided to adopt a brother for him to play with. I am happy to announce the birth of my new son. He was born on Wednesday July 19th At 6:28 Pm. He weighs a healthy 3,290 pounds, is bronze in colour, likes to wear BMW logos, and is hard to keep up with. I had to take out a 3rd motgage to adopt Him - but I think it's worth it in the end.
I have to say I adore both vehicles and they are my pride and joy. A parents love for their Children runs deep.

August Run

First off - I'd like to throw my pick in for August 27th for a run. I'll be in Vancouver on the 20th for a day or two picking up my daughter (any reason to get my MINI out on the open road!!!)

Also - why don't we meet @ the South Chapters on MacLeod Trail (you remember the one where my Echo was parked). It is Keeping with the Chapters tradition - ha, ha.

I am up for anything. Sundays seem to work best - but if some of us wanted to make a camping trip out of it on a Saturday night, I could be convinced to attend. The weather should be nice that time of year and it would be a good MINII bonding experience.
Perhaps we could set up camp the Saturday night in K-Country, play a little cricket, eat some fish and chips, then do a nice run in the mountains on the Sunday. For those people not interested in camping, they could always meet us the following morning for the run. I'm not sure how many people would be willing to do something like that - but it never hurts to try. I imagine we would get a better turn out if we did a typical Sunday afternoon run - however our cars are a bit different so why not try something a bit different.

My MINI may have trouble pulling the RV trailer though. Perhaps I will have to book him in for a JCW conversion to handle the extra weight....

Well, I know what we shouldn't do, (what I just got back from) and that is Thunder Bay and back. 20h each way of halucinatingly straight highway! Winnipeg was a welcome distraction driving around street corners in the city.
