Offline | Thanks Canadian... after 11 days the marriage is great... although if I keep waffling on cars, it may be one of the shortest ever. And I don't think she's intending for it to end in divorce, if you know what I'm saying ![]() The idea of an all Canadian car is appealing more and more. I did promise myself I'd never buy another black car, and my last red car was pretty easy to care for. Given my druthers, I'd rather the black roof for red, but if I could get a nice checkerboard decal and some black accents on the hood (after the car on the minipirate banner that shows up here sometimes) it would be a very sweet ride. (Actually, have you seen the red JCW that Crowfoot had in their showroom 2 weeks ago? It was pretty awesome. The red seats made the car even better. I'd hate to know how much it costs, however.) Well, let's look into this: Faster, what do you think the chances of getting me a CR/W car are? Bonus challenge: finding a cool number! |

Offline | Actually the SA was all excited about giving me the news concerning my car making it's way across the pond. Make that three members for CR/W. Now, should I dress the sunroof up with the Canadian Flag decal, the Dive Flag decal, or just leave it naked? BTW, she is getting bonnet stripes at the dealer as well. I can empathize with your colour decision Mr. Abulia but having owned two original minis as far as I am concerned a mini or a MINI must have a white roof. Therefore I really did not have any other choice. However, I think that AB/B is going to look awesome. |

Offline | This thread might have gotten sidetracked, but at least we now have four owners accounted for. Subtracting BMW's cars, that leaves 56 people left to speak up ![]() There's part of me that wants a white roof for the sake of tradition as well... but for some reason I am just attracted to combinations with black (white/black, dark silver/black, red/black are three faves). The only combination I can say that stops me dead with a white roof is your Avatar, Stickman: If electric blue was available in '06 I'd probably have bought an 'S' in the springtime! |

Offline | Now, aren't you glad you waited? The checkerboard roof decal would look smart on an all black MINI but would probably garner too much of the wrong kind of attention from the local constabulary. Then again, there are those that say driving a red car past a police cruiser is like waving a red flag at a bull. When I purchased my present MINI, EB and Dark Grey were specific colours for the Cooper 'S'. Then they went and made EB available for the Coopers. In the three years that I have owned the car I have seen several of the same colour combination as mine but not one that is identical. That is one of the really neat aspects of the car, they are so easily personalized. The limited option choices for the Competition cars means that they all start out pretty much the same. How long they stay that way is entirely up to the individual. Decisions, decisions, decisions. |

Offline | What was up with the Pepper White? I glanced at it, but noticed the sold sign so didn't look too closely. Oh if only the Competition car came in PW... and something tells me it would be ridiculously expensive to get the whole car repainted! |

Offline | It was a dealer trade, I think. Kitted out at previous dealer with all things JCW. I think my SA said it retailed at $50K. Made the Comp. Pack seem like a steal. I have posted in the General Discussion forum about "exclusivity" and our potential JCW's. Let me know your thoughts. Is there a trader listing for your P-Car where I can get the details on it? My bro may be interested. |

Offline | Canadian: you've got a PM. The competition package is a steal compared to other JCW. I was looking at a JCW car in Dark silver earlier this summer that cost just a little more than the Competition car and included only the sports, premium and JCW packages. So for the same money, we're now getting the aerokit, suspension, mirrors, 3-year service and assorted twiddly bits. Speaking of the twiddly bits, am I the only one who is thinking of swapping out the JCW shift knob for the regular one? |

Offline | You should have no trouble selling Tobias... he's got way more twiddly bits than a Competition car ![]() I guess that your selling privately is a good answer to the age-old question of whether its better to sell or trade... ![]() |

Offline | Well, I don't think the train has left the station yet, but the cars are on board. I guess there is one advantage to living down east; you'll get your cars a week or so ahead of us !! ![]() |

Offline | Looks like I will have to wait a bit longer to take delivery since I will be in the Bahamas next week. If the cars arrived in Halifax on the 8th, what in the world took so long for them to be put on the train? |

Offline | Ok, I have a sickness. That's the only possible explanation for it. I've now got a hold on #18 and possibly #19 (an ab/ab and a cr/w), simply so that I can see them both in the flesh before deciding which colour is right for me. And now I'm beginning to think I should acquiesce to my wife's aesthetics and hold a blue/black car instead. There should be laws against people like me! In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas for what I could do to either a black or cr/w car to dress it up a bit? Does anyone know a good place in Calgary to get stripes and graphics done? Offline | Just owning a MINI can be a sickness, mr. a! But I understand the dilemma. I heartily recommend Grafix in Motion here in Calgary. Jay (owner) does an excellent job and stands behind his work. He as done a few things for customers of ours. Oh, and I should add that not all the cars have been released to the carrier - mine for instance is on the train, expected here at 3pm on the 1st, as is a second car destined for here but three others are still in Halifax. |

Offline | Sounds good, I'll have to look into them when I get the car. Is that where Tobias got some of his goodies? The train thing is some good news: it means that perhaps I'll be able to sell the Porsche in time after all! Have you been able to find Tobias a good home yet? It would be a shame to have your new car sit waiting for you... particularly since you'd get to stare at it every time you went into work After talking to my wife again, I may have to call back and get Divina to look for a blue car rather than a red one too... although I don't know if the resale on a blue car would be any good. Argh. Now I'm tearing my hair out. Last edited by mr.abulia : Aug 24th, 2006 at 12:17 AM. Reason: Insanity |

Offline | Sounds like advanced stages of MINI madness to me. What happens if you like all three? Perhaps you should have one for you, another one for your wife and maybe the third one as backup. |
