Gonna post some pictures soon, hopefully I've got one or two good ones. The foothills is gorgeous this time of the year and I think I'll go to Elbow falls again this saturday to drive faster and take some more pics

Yeah, even though some of the corners with "speed suggestions" of 75 or 85 kph on #762 were taken at 130 - 140 kph (in the wet!), why did I get the feeling that the speeds were down on this run?
Great fun in those twisty bits, and kudos to all for safe and sane driving.
Once again great job on the photos Lucas (X), thanks for posting those up.
Hope to make it down for a future run, the Son and I had a blast! (although he complained that I got to drive in the twistiest sections, hey... who was to know?... )
And thanks to MiniVee for organizing and map handouts.

It was nice meeting everyone at chapters. Next time hopefully school work doesn't interfere.

Sorry I missed the meet. My sister's where in town and I showed them how wonderful Calgary is.

Thanks for spare!

What you ate all of the Timbits Rob? LOL................

Nice...

Tony, it was aweful. RS3TURN would not give up the timbits. We were thinking of taking him behind the dumpsters at Chapters at give him a quick lesson in politeness and the fine art of head butting but he also had muscle with him protecting the timbits.

He would not accept them.
He insisted on giving me a "spare tire" tire as well as one he left for you.

At the bike racks....after school. (I could use the workout to work off the timbits).

My guess is The Madchester Northern Monkey must have been watching Man U's lucky pole vault to the top of the Premiership division. Either that or catching up on Corrie in his jammies

Anyone notice if I was smoking white during the run?

I'm curious if I've been burning coolant as I've run into an overheating issue:

I was in the Red/Black CVT Cooper.

Very strange, sounds like a stuck thermostat to me, if you're not actually leaking coolant. Can't say I saw anything strange from your exhaust, it was pretty hard to see white smoke in the rain though.

MiniPapa:

I was in the tail car with xtremepsionic, and didn't notice anything smoking from your car's exhaust. The car itself, of course, is a different matter: it is smoking! I do love the red/black combo

I'm with Xtreme; it sounds like the thermostat isn't opening at the right temperature, but it does open eventually. This would cause the overheating with a sudden return to normal.

So if it is the thermostat, is the car actually overheating, or just think it is?
I don't want to drive it if it is actually overheating.

Minipapa: You might want to take it in to have them look and check it out. I don't think you'll have trouble getting the car there yourself as long as you don't drive it too hard; if you were going to run into serious mechanical troubles from driving it, it wouldn't have survived Sunday!

I thought the thermostat controls the amount of coolant flow to the radiator (correct me if I'm wrong) so if that is the case, then coolant isn't flowing and your engine is technically overheating.

But if I thought wrong, then I guess you wouldn't have a problem driving it.

I have an appointment booked for the 16th, but that is a long time without my MINI

The only weird bit is if it is the thermostat, then where did all the coolant go the first time?

Craig, do the boys usually fill 'er up with coolant when the car is delivered?

You are right. So the engine is actually overheating because there is no exchange (at the appropriate time) between the block and rad.

Craig, any chance I can get you to boot one of those big BMW's out of the bay so I can get in earlier?
