Minipapa: You might want to take it in to have them look and check it out. I don't think you'll have trouble getting the car there yourself as long as you don't drive it too hard; if you were going to run into serious mechanical troubles from driving it, it wouldn't have survived Sunday!

I don't want to drive it if it is actually overheating.

I thought the thermostat controls the amount of coolant flow to the radiator (correct me if I'm wrong) so if that is the case, then coolant isn't flowing and your engine is technically overheating.

But if I thought wrong, then I guess you wouldn't have a problem driving it.

I have an appointment booked for the 16th, but that is a long time without my MINI

The only weird bit is if it is the thermostat, then where did all the coolant go the first time?

Craig, do the boys usually fill 'er up with coolant when the car is delivered?

You are right. So the engine is actually overheating because there is no exchange (at the appropriate time) between the block and rad.
