Offline | Thinking of bringing me and my mini to Canada Hi guys, I am currently in the process of looking into emigrating to Canada. I am a serving Uk police officer and am looking into joining the Calgray police service. Obviously one good thing about Canada and Calgary is that you have mini's and I wish I could make you meet on Oct 1st, but can anyone take the time to give me some pointers about Calgary and also a good place to live ($400000CDN for a 3-4 bedroom house.)Many thanks for any help on this matter Paul |

Offline | You have ducks under your desk as well? Mine are quite noisy at times... or at least that's how I explain things to my wife. But I digress. Calgary is the best of the Canadian cities... and having lived in several of them, I consider myself a quasi-expert! I have also sent a PM. |

Offline | hope the hunt goes well for a house. there is one across the street from me for sale...not sure what it is selling for, but check the mls listings for Valley Ridge (Valleycrest Close). I'm pretty biased toward Northwest Calgary, and the house that is for sale has another CPS officer directly behind it, so that's always good ![]() |

Oh, and please leave your radar camera's at the homeland. We have enough here already! ![]() |

Offline | If you plan on joining the police forces here in Calgary, I'm sure people in the force can give you a pretty accurate view of which neighbourhood is best. I am a bit biased to the NW and SW end of town myself. As for importing your car, I think you're going to be way better off buying one locally, unless you really want to stick with right hand drive and have tons of money for that purpose! |

Offline | I like the central SouthWest, but SouthEast is also good. The NorthWest is only really nice if you want to go visit the dealership, or if you're passing through on your way to get ice cream ![]() |

Offline | It would be great, until you had to pass someone on the highway. Yikes! I'm with xtreme, think you might be better off buying one locally. As for location in the city, a safe bet is to stick with the NW and SW. (NW has been my preference for the last 10 years though. ) University and major hospital are in the NW. Nuff said. There was a good North vs South debate going on myhomescape. myhomescape forums - NORTH OR SOUTH and why |

Offline | SE, NW, SW are all decent. I'm fond of the SE myself, due to great access to major arteries. Have you noticed how nobody has mentioned the NE yet? ![]() ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | Because it's a ghetto! But enough of this North-South stuff; Go central, the 'hood is the Wood - Inglewood, best community in the city Easy access to everything; bike paths, major roadways, downtown, Spolumbo's...![]() |

Offline | Now let's be clear. The West-of-Deerfoot NE is not the same as the East-of -Deerfoot NE. Us West-of-Deerfoot NE folks like to think of ourselves as NW'ers so as to avoid confusion. ![]() |

Offline | No way, I don't buy that for a second. Get your own quadrant title. Oh, that's right you tried that by calling yourself North Central but it wouldn't stick. Everyone knows Centre street is the divider and not the Deerfoot. Check your mailbox. If your mail say's NE, guess where you are? The NE suburban getto! ![]() |
