Offline | leaving Calgary..........back to the Texas It is confirmed, I知 leaving Calgary as of October 27, 2006. I知 packing light and it will be just be the mini, the road and me on the trip back to Houston, Texas. I知 going to head to Vancouver then down to Seattle. In Seattle I知 going for my last oil change before I hit 40,000 mile (It will be free). Then work my way back east toward the central United States and finally south towards Texas! I知 hoping to meet up with some of the mini owners across America. I just want to say it was great meeting all the mini owners here in Calgary. I can remember the first meeting we had back in September 2005. I知 sure some of you guys remember that great first mini rally/meeting we had. LOL. It was great! Big thumbs up to Crowfoot mini for supplying goodies at the mini meet. Thanks for the all the good memories. I will come to the OCT mini meet. Does anyone have any suggestions on places to stop and see on the way to Vancouver or in the states? Question: Where can I get a spare for my mini? Thanks, Tony |

Offline | Great to meet you, Tony. As I have done a few times now I strongly recommend taking the Crowsnest through to Creston, and north to the Kootenay Ferry. It would had a couple of hours to the drive, but many, many smiles. Take care, enjoy the drive, and best of luck for the future! ![]() |

Offline | I have a spare 15" R81, 7 hole with a well worn OEM Conti tire 2/32nds(wear bars) that will get you on your way in a pinch. I hit the curb with it a while back, damaged it beyond repair but still drove around on it for many months after. If your interested, I will trade it to you for a timbit. Its no use or value to me. I have a donut spare under my car and it is just sitting in my basement and you can just junk it later. Britishdave |

Offline | I would like to start a motion that from now on Tony's MINI will be know as TIMBIT. Anyone 2nd the motion? A nice nickname for your MINI to remember us Canadians... Oh, and trading a "donut" for a timbit seems like a good deal to me. |

Offline | When you get down to Texas, be sure to check out our local club: Metroplex MINI We have groups from Houston and Dallas... both groups are fairly active and the forums are lively. You can buy the spare for a Cooper at the dealership. It won't fit on the front of an MCS, but if you blow the front, you can move the rear to the front and put the spare on the rear. It is $120-$150 (US) at the dealership parts counter for the donut tire and wheel. The "Bag Lady" (do a Google search for "Bag Lady MINI") is a MINI owner who does custom sewing for MINI bits. She makes a nice bag for the spare, should you be driving a MCS and you want to throw the donut in the back for road trips. Most of this is moot as you have a much cheaper donation from another Motorist. I loan my bagged spare to any of my local club members who ask. Another source for a spare would be a local serious racing or autocross MINI owner. They usually have a spare set of tires kicking around in their garage and most are willing to loan you one for a week or so if you ask nicely (and if they don't have a track event planned for that time). Before I had my spare, I bummed a track wheel from a friend for the 1,000 mile trip to the Dragon from Dallas. This doesn't work for your long one-way trip, but for most it works out nicely. |
