| 05 MCS BEP | It was sunny on Friday and Saturday. But we got rain yesterday (Sunday). Lots of it. It's sunny again now, so I'll send up the sunshine right away ![]() On Saturday, I took my daughter (in our MINI ) up to Bunsen Lake and hiked around the lake. I forgot how twisty the road there was. Sure was fun until we found the speed bumps that looked recently added. 05MCS BEP - Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI, Alta 15%, NGK BRK7EIX |

Offline | Nothing yet, driving my wife's 3 series until she gets back from Europe, then the plan is to get an AM Vantage. So the replacement will be British, and still have a pair of wings on the hood. |

Offline | Hopefully this one is put together with a little more care. Though for what a Vantage costs, it had better be! Good luck, and enjoy the new wheels no matter what they are. |

Offline | And I thought we were bad with collector cars. At least we hold onto them several years before moving on. We had Brian's TR6 for about 15 years. My TR6 for several. Only reason the El Camino was sold was that it was too big a shock to the system driving the El Camino after driving my MINI. Part of me regrets that sale. We've had the BugEye for two years now but that doesn't really count since it's still scattered all over the garage and living room. lolThinking of buying a collector(?) pick-up but Brian and I can't agree on what we want. I want 4x4, abs, air bags, some comfort. Brian wants a 1972 Chevy/GMC. I like the styling but want my airbags. Toying with a Subaru Baja but they all seem to be imported from the US and are a rude price. Saw one in the paper that said it had no accidents "during the trip from the USA". Alarm bells!!! Danger, Will Robinson!! Guess I'll see how the snow tires and different route to work this winter go before deciding if I need/want a 4x4 for next year. I plan to take a truck route to work this winter in the hopes that the city actually ploughs it so I don't have to carve through the snow. Who knows, maybe Vancouver won't get any snow this year. |

Offline | I think the colour scheme makes a big difference to the look of a Baja. I saw a solid deep blue one that was really nice but the yellow/silver ones don't do anything for me. Would be interesting to see a concept of your vehicle idea Clive. Another reason to get a Baja, although a really poor one, is so I could put on a licence plate holder that says Baja Humbug. (I love halloween, hate Christmas.)Funny thing about the El Camino - Chevy used the Chevelle chassis and only covered up the rear seat wells. From what I hear there were a lot of things being smuggled under the bed of those vehicles in the footwells. Guess it was before all the contraband sniffing dogs. So, still on car/pick-ups, I wonder if MINI will take the SAV concept and come up with a pick-up truck version. Could be pretty cool and a definite progression to the brand. Mini did it first. Or, 2015 MINI Moke anyone? By the way, glad you haven't deserted us Clive, even though you are MINIless. |

Offline | Once a MINIac, always a MINIac..... Basically the idea would be to take a baja like this: http://checkengine.spb.ru/Subaru/Baj...D%202005/1.jpg and modify it like a mini truck....tastefully done of course. http://www.hotrodhotline.com/newslet...mini_truck.jpg As far as a MINI truck goes, have you seen this? http://germancarscene.com/wp-content...k2-2-03-07.jpg |

Unfortunately, you would lose the 4x4 capabilities (the only reason a Baja is on our list), or would air suspension allow for 4x4? I've often wondered that on a slammed vehicle. Hadn't seen that picture. Seems less useful than a stock vehicle as far as capacity goes but definitely a head turner. Any plans for an original Mini in your future Clive? At least, you'll know there will be issues. It is old British after all and has Lucas electricals. When we buy the collector cars, we expect to be repairing frequently. Funny, seems like a fair amount of new MINI enthusiasts crave an original Mini. |

Offline | [quote=works4me19;3552973] Funny, I have considered an original MINI. My parents will be moving back from Europe in a year or two, so I have the opportunity to throw one in their moving container and bring a nice one over from Europe. Oh, and the only vehicle I've had with Lucas electronics (my Land Rover) I've never had a problem with. Go figure. |
