Canada Christmas Children's / Charity drive

Last year a few of us in Calgary talked about doing something for underprivileged kids at around Christmas time (somehow involving our MINI's of course). If we want to do something this christmas, we should probably start planning it soon. Anyone else up for it? Ideas / thoughts?

Sounds like a worthy cause. The only idea I have right now includes cr/w minis with fake beards, but I'm pretty sure more will come to me...

Ooh, BRG Minis with pointy hats and shoes! There we go... now we're cooking with gas...

But now how do we fill the santa and elf minis with gifts?

Haha! All right Mr. A, what is in your drinking glass tonight, a little early christmas cheer?

And more importantly, are you going to share?

I wish I was drinking... I'm just normally this demented

P.S. I think cotton fluff fringe along the side skirts will complete the look!

In brief; an idea I had last year was that we would get a corporate sponsor to pay x (between $500 to a $1000 per car) amount for us to decal our cars with their logo along with the receiving charitie's logo. We would keep the decals on for a couple of months, use the money to buy toys/food, do a run with a bunch of Mini's loaded up that culminates in us dropping of the goods. Good exposure for the donating company, Mini owners feels good, kids benefit. Two issues however; people (Mini owners) need to know that the decals do come off without damage so we get a good number of volunteer cars, and where the hell would Gord put the stickers?

I like your idea, Faster. However, instead of putting decals on the paint, how about putting some decals / text on the rear quarter windows instead ? That way we don't have to worry about effects on the paint, it is higher up and more visible, and might also stay cleaner longer on December roads. (Plus I think Gord has some room left up there )

The text could say something like:

---------------------------------------------------
MINI Christmas Run
For Children

This MINI sponsered by: Joe's Paving
---------------------------------------------------

Is that a dig at all my vinyl or all my duct tape?

Sounds good... though I would argue that putting the decals on the doors or something would be more visible, and therefore more likely to attract sponsors. Also, it would save you some cash, MiniVee

Last year, Westcoast Fieros of BC (yes I also have a Fiero) did a toy/food and money drive and took it to a local radio station. We've done it the last 3 years in a row. But last year, we issued a challenge to all car clubs to do likewise.

The Fieros donated about 100lbs of food and $500 in cash. To some of us, it might not seem like much but many of the owners are students and can barely afford to keep their cars insured.

I think MINI owners could do better to help those in need.

I wonder if anybody in Vancouver is reading this...

05MCS BEP Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI, Alta 15%, NGK BRK7EIX, M7 Strut Tower Reinforcement plates, BSH Lower Engine Mount

count me in on this...maybe someone here has an "in" with the Santa Claus Day parade and we could get a couple MINIs in that...i bet a vinyl place in town would be willing to deck out a car or two for some exposure...maybe find a couple CR convertibles and put some elves in the back to distribute some candy to the kids on the route or something

MINI Sleighs!!

I think this is a great idea!! Just playing with some thoughts. What if we were able to collect toys (corporately or whatever) then use the MINIs as sleighs to drive the gifts to some town or community which would benefit. What do you guys think? Perhaps we could do this through social agencies or churches?
